We win 6 games and go to a bowl game.  And of course, Dimel is given an extension.  Trust the process.

  • I don't know about that W at UNT.
I'm pretty tempted to say we start 4-1, Senter gets so excited he gives Dimel a liftetime contract mid-season, and then we lose out from there and end up 4-8.

More optimistically, I will pick same as you except losing to UNT and we end up 5-7, just miss a bowl game, and we extend Dimel one more year to see if he can put us over the top.

I really don't like Dimel at all as HC.  I feel like he might be OK if he focused on being an HC and made sure we had our shit together logistically.  Little things like having 11 guys on the field, getting plays in to the QB in a timely manners, things like that.  But he spends so freaking much of his time deciding what play to call, he doesn't manage the game.  And to top it off he sucks at the play calling.

  • Our last two coaches have left me wondering if there is some kind of funny business, something we don't know that would explain what seems to me to be way beyond bad luck, stupidity, all odds, anything that would explain how we have approached the sport of football.  Both of them talked like scores didn't matter, but time of possession was the important thing.  It's like we aren't even trying to win would be an improvement over it seems like we are trying to do something else.  Q What  is the score   A  Mercury is also known as quicksilver
2+2=June bug fingernail polish  UTEP football is way beyond just simple crazy.  We seem to violate the laws of nature.

The w at UNT is because we played them to something like a 45-43 loss or 43-41, something like that and I look for improvement and am trusting the process.  ;)  Every pick is just a whim.  We could easily, so very easily, lose every one of those games.  Those picks don't even represent hope.  I have lost all hope.  Endure.  I must endeavor to persevere.  The picks of wins are more of like, "in a normal world where  the pointer doesn't land on UTEP SUCKS on every spin" we could win these games.

The weirdest part may be that we could end up winning those games in spite of everything.  I am trying to be respectful toward those teams, and truly believe that they are just as likely to beat UTEP as the other way around, but just if we were a normal team, throw a dart at a map and pick the D1 team it is closest to, would that team laugh and giggle at those games?  The thing is, what if we lost all of those games I picked to win?

THESE ARE MY PICKS. We will win only four games, and that's even a maybe. When we get the weekly prediction thread I might just change some of them because of how UTEP played the week before but before the season starts I don't want to be optimistic as I know from experience how UTEPs luck goes. Afterall, it's not like we don't know that the Sun Bowl was built on an ancient Indian burial ground...or it seems.

  • With a prediction of 8 wins it wasn't hard not to laugh Austin. LOL

That's a pretty optimistic look at a Dimly team. Don't get me wrong, I would love to be wrong and you right but after how many years now of losing football I can't get on that bandwagon. I'd rather ride my bike alongside it.  ;D

  • The Miners have 20 returning starters.  I'm basing my predictions on that and a lot of hope.   ;) 8)

  •  It's slow so I'm gonna beat the dead horse.  I don't care if they have 45 returning players.  We also have the same returning playcaller, who thinks a halftime adjustment involves his crotch.  That's our limiting factor.

  • Actually I'd love to meet all the Denizens, and I'd be delighted to buy any/all of you a beer.  Maybe now that the kids are grown I can see a few more games in person.  I usually make it to UNT basketball, and maybe this year I can make a football game and a couple others.
