Keith Frazier will transfer to UTEP as a grad transfer, which means he will play right away. The kid is a 6'5" SG and was a 5★ out of high school. Yes a 5★. He out of the Dallas area and played 3 years under coach Brown at SMU. He transferred out to North Texas to play his Sr year and injured his knee only 4 games into the season. He was given a medical red shirt and decided to join the Miners. He was one of the kids involved in the grade issues that the NCAA investigated and disciplined Brown for.
I just hope the kid's knee is not an issue and he can still ball.
Please see what ESPN had to say about the kid that I cut and pasted below. This kid and Omega will be a major problem for teams.
Strengths:
Frazier is an elite-level scoring guard who possesses one of the smoothest jump shots (quick release with deep range) around. He has a terrific frame with long arms and overall great length that should fill out nicely in the years to come. He is a high-level athlete who finishes strong in transition and he has a knack for slashing his way to the rim. Off the dribble he can convert the half spin jump shot in the lane or stick the fade away if needed. He can also rebound and lead the fast break when needed.
Weaknesses:
Physically he needs to get stronger, especially while driving to the rim, but that shouldn't be an issue considering his youth. Although he has gotten better with the ball, he needs to hone his mid-range game and get stronger with the ball-especially while going left (weak hand). Also as defenses get accustomed to his scoring outbursts, he'll need to continue to find his teammates, especially while getting double-teamed on the perimeter.
Bottom Line:
Frazier is a Top 5 shooting guard in the country for his class. He has all the physical intangibles (length, bounce, and evolving skills) needed for the position and he is a prolific shooter out to 22-feet. With added strength and continued development in the areas of skill and savvy, he should be an elite recruit by the time he enters college.
