It seems to me that he at least knows what a big man should do and that is break a defender's arm off if they dare try to get in his way when he takes it to the hoop. I know that the game has supposedly changed since The Bear coached. UTEP's has-we don't win like we used to, but if you remember what he wanted David Lattin to do against Kentucky in the NC game, he wanted it slammed down. Not a layup, not a short jumper, and damned sure not a long jump shot. Remember also what he told Greg Foster who wanted to shoot long jump shots. Basically, get your tall ass in the damned paint and play like a man! There are a million guards who can shoot jump shots but there aren't too many 7 footers! We have seven footers who want to be guards. Yeah, yeah, I know, that pulls their defenders out of the paint. Maybe. Or maybe they just wait for the miss to get the rebound. It seems to me that all our 7 footers do is step out to set picks, weak ones mostly, and stand there hoping to get a chance to shoot a three pointer. Call me crazy, but I still believe in big men playing like big sons of bitches against little boys and being bullies about it. It appears to me that this guy understands that concept. Now, I don't know, Terry may just want him to be a fricken May pole for his guards to dance around. I wonder what Terry would have had Derrick Caracter doing. Would he have had him running out to the three point line to set picks or score the damned baskets.
