  • Why would I bring up football?  I have no answer

If I recall we were supposed to hear about which coaches are leaving after they have found new jobs.  I don't recall hearing anything, does that mean everyone is staying or that no one can find new jobs?

At least we can be confident that the 5 year plan will get us to the promised land with all the quality recruiting that's happening.  Here's the conference recruiting rankings.

Too soon for football. So depressing

  • Once it was apparent that no coaches were being immediately let go following the final game, I was thinking that maybe they were simply retaining the coaches throughout this first recruiting period.  I have heard that sometimes if coordinators have built relationships with some of the recruits you want to hang on to the coordinators until the players have signed in order to maintain that contact and thus not scare away the recruit so to speak.  But here we are past the early singing period, and all coaches and coordinators have been retained, so who knows?

  • I hate to break it to y'all, but y'all are thinking that there was something wrong with the way UTEP football was last season.  That isn't the case at all.  We are on the 7 year plan and only two years into it.  The coaches are building a foundation and that takes time.  But, it is being done with class and integrity. So, losing games under Dimel is different from all of the losing of games under past coaches.  Under Dimel and Senter, the 22 losses in two years were classy losses and lost with integrity.  But, tremendous strides were taken-in class and integrity.  You have to stop measuring success in wins and losses like everyone else does and start seeing the class and integrity.  It started with getting rid of the old classless orange on the past.  And fans.  The new classy integrity fans(there's a good four or five hundred) can see the strides, tremendous strides, being taken.  Maybe you haven't noticed, but we are much closer to winning Time of Possession battles, rehabilitating the failures of criminal justice wrongdoings and removing the dilapidated old front porch.  The big dumpster in the front yard is filling up and looks bad right now, but you can't focus on that.  Look at the stacks of two by fours and plywood instead.  In another five years we will have a nice classy new porch with integrity.  Try not to look at the stupid giant scoreboard that shows points and get yourselves new stop watches to keep track of the time we possess the ball and you will feel much better.  When aggies taunt you, point to our class and integrity in your new Volunteers orange UTEP gear.  Show them your stop watches and show them the time of possession .  That will shut them right up.  The recruiting services don't measure class and integrity with stars.  If they did, we would have the highest ranking in years-not years, but decades.  Go clock!  Go you classy boys!  Instead of giving the Picks Up sign give the wind the clock sign!  That is my new cheer for this year.  Wind the clock, you classy Miners!  Do it with integrity!  Grab a foam report card from a vendor and wave it-with class and integrity of course!  Those of you deriding the losses and humiliation that comes from classless people around the country who look at wins and losses have no class and dismiss the integrity of the team.  In five years, see who is classy, then.  Wind the clock, you classy Miners!  Go Miners, get to class!

  • Not sure if I've seen a ".5" Star rated football class. That can't be good.

  • Yes!  A giant box of it that has to last all year and to be doled out in giant heaps befitting the losses we will pile up.  I am looking into ordering a couple dozen foam clocks to wave at games for all of the coaches and fans at the games.  Classy ones that can be waved with integrity and big enough to hide behind when talking to aggies and any real football fan.  With happy faces.  Maybe with wings on them to honor our new president of UTEP.  Maybe that can be worn over heads like the way paper bags have been used in the past.  That would be classy!
