Simple Rating System takes into account average point differential and strength of schedule with average being zero

Stull average number of wins per season and SRS  and then Strength of Schedule  7    -0.85   -4.24

Nord average number of wins per season and SRS  and then Strength of Schedule   3.5   -13.41  -4.45

Price average number of wins per season and SRS  and then Strength of Schedule   5.3  -6.06  -4.22

Kugler average number of wins per season and SRS  and then Strength of Schedule 3.6   -17.86   -5.83

Dimel average number of wins per season and SRS  and then Strength of Schedule   1   -20.48    -7.17

I gave Mike Price's losses with Kugler's team after he abandoned it to Kugler for the purpose of finding the numbers here.  I didn't feel it was right to let Kugler off the hook for his team nor hanging the losses around Price's neck.

This does show Stull won more and by bigger margins against tougher competition.  Price came the closest to Stull, against equal competition but the wins weren't as decisive.  Not to pick on Dimel, but he is not winning, getting ass-raped, by much lower rated competition.  Wow!  The Wins and Losses don't really tell you how bad it is and they are insanely ridiculously bad.

  • Under this system, we have been better than average 3 times in the last 40 years.

Once under Stull, once under Nord, and once under Price.

As we are obviously saddled with Dimel for a while, at least Canales and the special teams coach need to go at the end of the season.  Of couse I don't know if we can get a competent OC to take on this mess.  I was really unimpressed with the Canales hire, and its not encouraging that Dimel thought that was a good hire.

  • Dimel was Co-Offensive Coordinator at K State.  He is 2 and 15 under Canales as OC.  Supposedly, Dimel could fire Canales right now-today, and take over those duties IF he wasn't ok with what he sees.  But, Dimel is just fine with where the team is and what they are doing.  They just need to execute the offense better is what he says, oh, and eliminate those costly penalties.  I know, firing Canales would make coaches leery of taking the position.  My ass!  I know one OC named Eric Price that would bring instant offense and I am pretty sure he would take the job-and I don't know anything about the coaches out there and who is available.

It seems to me that jumping at the chance to give Kugler an extension and offering Dimel a 5 year contract without seeing him coach a single game were almost worthy of criminal investigation.  The Kugler one I could argue that he had shown some signs of life-but to jump to keep him for three extra years based on that was questionable, at best.  Like he was going to be stolen from us and couldn't be replaced.  Still, he was a Miner and one of Stull's boys.  But, Dimel was given a golden parachute for his retirement-not from K State, but from UTEP!?  Man, we really locked him in with that 5 year contract, eh!  Oh well, you can't argue with success.

  • I would take Eric in a heartbeat as OC or HC as long as he promises Aaron will never be OC here.

  • We've been screwed by incompetent ADs for a loooonnnnngggg time. I don't put much stock on an AD that hires a coaching that has a terrible losing record. The dumb S probably though because Dimly coached at a Cabal school that he would bring UTEP from the lowly group of 8 into the winning column.

What Ps'es me off to no end is that there are countless FCS coaches that could change things here. Or better yet assistant coaches from winning programs. I know a head coach at UTEP probably earns more than a winning asst. coach from some schools.

We're screwed for the next 4 years or is it 3 now?
