  • It's looking like coach Golding is not going to be the guy to return UTEP to basketball prominance. 3 years in now and our team is looking bad. Can UTEP afford another buyout after buying out Dimel?

  • I bet they give him one more year.  It appears he just can?t recruit.  They get open shots but can?t shoot worth a lick

  • I bet they get good grades.

If you take away the three games that UTEP should never have had the brass nuts to charge money to watch or play, Fred McMurry, Science and Arts of Oklahoma, and Western New Mexico, and you have to look at their record to see that they barely even played basketball in the previous two years as they have played 2 games this year-UTEP and nmsu, we average 64.7 ppg and not the 78 ppg we show.  Our opponents average 68.  And we haven't been playing giants of college basketball.

  • ky was right on this hire.  What we need is better players and the way to get them is a flash hire they will want to play for.  Hell it could be a rap star, and hire assistants to coach.  A team full of 3 and 4 star players could win this league

  • Yeppers, their record is misleading. We've played powder puffs and won because we were able to take it to the basket and there wasn't a need to shoot from outside like with good to great teams. I thought Golding was gonna be the one like Haskins but he's proven to be Fools Gold. These players can't hit the side of a barn and they're terrible at taking it to the basket because that's all they do without success. I'm gonna start predicting with my feeble brain instead of a Miner fans heart who wished they would win each game. I don't see Oregano as a powerhouse team and yet they beat us by 21. It's pathetic and I predict we'll be at the bottom of Cusa. I don't have any idea how good Enemas U. is but I suspect that they're much better and will whip our tail.

    *le sigh*

  • Loyola Marymount beat us by 20!

    Abilene Chrstn Last 5
    DATE   OPP   RESULT
    12/6/23   vsNAU   L78-76
    12/2/23   vsSFA   L79-74 OT
    11/29/23   @UTA   L86-71
    11/20/23   vsMOST   L87-69
    11/19/23   vsFOR   W59-45

ACU has lost their last four games and they are favored to win!  Oh, and look at the powerhouses they lost to!  Looking, we might be a middle of the pack team in the WAC.  We might be able to beat Billie Cyde and Tarlton State.  I wouldnt bet a buck on it, though.

I take it back.  His team would hold us under 60.

  • I thought it could be time to discuss this issue again since the Miners have not improved over the course of the season and, in fact are in last place in a mediocre CUSA. Hopefully the plug is pulled at the end of the season and we are searching for a new coach. It should not take three years to build a good team but here we are.

DePaul just fired their coach and join Vanderbilt and Ohio State on the short list of schools in the hunt for a new coach.

    Who should UTEP go after?

  • Give Tim Hardaway a million dollars a year. Kicks up to 1.2 million with conference championship.  12,000x$>3,000x$.
Hardaway puts players in Miners uniforms and fans in the Don. Timmy gets a chance and a chance at redemption. Comes home. Rebuilds UTEP basketball to national powerhouse. The script is waiting to be written.

  • Will Tim's presence lure better players?  Is he good at recruiting, or will he hire people that are?  That's who you wanted last time, and I wanted Golding, so I say it's your turn.

  • I think he would have top players wanting to play under him and the notice he would bring. Keep in mind that his kid is currently doing well in the NBA. Bring in Foster as his assistant and head coach in waiting. Three years.

  • Meh, Hardaway has never cared about the Miners once he left. There's many outstanding ex-NBAers that could bring in the fans and the players and I am sure that they would salivate at the chance of being a college coach to prove themselves.

    No to Tim.

  • I thought Tim was lobbying to be considered when we hired Golding?

  • Folks, you aren?t going to believe this.

    Abilene Christian:   158?144 (.523)   71?68 (.511)
    UTEP Miners (Conference USA) (2021?present)
    2021?22   UTEP   20?14   11?7   4th (West)   TBC Second Round
    2022?23   UTEP   14?18   7?13   T?9th
    2023?24   UTEP   13?11   4?5
    UTEP:   47?43 (.522)   20?24 (.455)
