We out player them. For the first time in years, the defense played defense, And they played it hard, and pretty smart. It was a completely different team that took the field, last night. The team had three days with Mike Price. Three days. But the team was a completely different team. The second half of the season is going to be much different than I had planned. Every game on the schedule is now up for grabs. The thing is, we lost too many at the end of his tenure, but we were always competitive, and not as Kugler said, his guys would compete. Kugler is a Miner. He tried. I hated the way he went about things, and I hated the regression the program was sustaining under him. In my frustration I said things that were "unsupporting" of him, at least. He is no longer a problem. He is now a Miner who tried. I wish the best for him in the troubling times ahead for him.
The players went to a fight last night. It was a very close decision, but the other guy knows who did what. So do our guys. Instead of being lambs lead to a slaughter, the were going to a fight, and they were going to be able to use two hands for the first time in years. The right hand was a little rusty from lack of use, but instantly showed this fight was going to be a fair one. If there is anyone that thinks the players mentality isn't huge, last night should have changed their mind. You just wait until Price has had a chance to build on that, now that they not only had three days of change to give them a taste. Do you think practices are going to be a whole new ball game, now? Shit! They will be having fun, knocking hell out of each other, and preparing to go kick some ASS!
