  • Met him when I was a student at Burges HS in the counselors office. Very nice man.

  • I was surprised that he was 86. That's pretty old. May he RIP.

  • He lived close to Burges HS.  I went to his home a couple of times with my brother.  It was a modest home.

Yep, in those days pro football players were really used and thrown away after their careers. It wasn't like today where a rookie is almost a millionaire. Poor guys, some of them sustained brain injuries because the rules weren't as strict as they are now in the field. How many times did those guys get head rammed, now it's a player can get suspended if he does it, not then. It was really a man's sport, like gladiators.

  • So sad. We truly lost a great one. I never met him, but I know he once dated my mom, many decades ago, when they were both at UTEP. (My mom preferred my dad however; and the rest is history. Lol)
    May he Rest In Peace.
    Let's go Brandon!
