This game is a big game. Tech has always had our number because Skip Holtz was a damned good coach. They have faltered a bit since his departure. That is why we may have an opening. It will give the team a chance to see and show whether or not there is progress for sure or another dose of UTEP hope. I hope I am wrong and that the win was all it took to break the damn. Can anyone explain to me how eleven fcs players came from fcs Austin peay and took the spots of Kugler?s players?  Like how many more fcs players could have come to El Paso if they wanted and taken a scholarship from kugler players?  How many and how do we explain how Kugler couldn?t get anyone better than sub-fcs talent?  Does that make any sense to someone that can explain it to me?  Either Kugler had sub-fcs level talent on the team(and who even knows how many, but his eleven were just who were willing to move with him)?  Or, is Walden playing lesser talent because either he can?t judge talent or is just favoring his players?  If kugler stocked no talent players it is on Senter. Senter is watching his hand picked coach be close to be an fcs level team playing in the fbs. A decent fcs team mind you but put them up against southern Utah state and it is obvious.  Some of you may remember a book titled The Peter Principle.

Did Dimel have sub-FCS players on the roster who fcs players were better than?  Why?  Our new qb was playing at the fcs level. Did we not have any a better than that?  Really. Don?t get me wrong, I am not questioning this kid?s ability but I am questioning Dimel?s team. A team built around o lines for twelve years left Walden not a single starting o lineman. Dimel. A team that can be replaced by fcs players?  A team with not a single qb on the roster able to outplay the fcs kid?  Two o line coaches spent 12 years building o lines and when Walden comes in it is to a team with no o line?  How in the fuck does UTEP manage this shit. I have a need for someone from inside to explain how UTEP football can even manage to be as bad as we seem to always find a way to be. It?s like we are trying to do something other than what we are supposed to be doing. I mean if we were trying, all this considered we should win our share. But our share doesn?t exist. And it for forty years has been ok. We used to blame it on Lady Di being just about teaching the locals. But that shit is old. AFA would not have tolerated UTEP results when she was there. Why does she or powers that be allow it here. Senter. What are your thoughts about the start of the new coach. Too soon?  How many of us think it is too soon to tell?

I saw a team that came to play NE and found out NE is on a different level. That is what it?s about. He and his offense was dandy against AP competition but even against Cusa teams it will not be dazzling people blind. As Mike Price said, ?It?s the Jessies and Joes, not the x?s and o?s.?  He also said that the spread and hurry up offense is great if it is working but if it isn?t then you are hanging the defense out to be killed.
The offense the past dozen years was to save the defense by holding on to the ball. Winning top.

I am broken hearted to say that Mike Price had us getting the talent to beat 12 ranked Houston in a tough cusa. Since then, Kugler, Dimel and UTEP leadership have dropped us down to the bottom of the list with the rest of the teams in this conference. The slightest talent moves up as fast as they can. UTEP is perfectly willing to do what they have done for ever. Field a team. Just put a team on the field. Success is ok-if it happens. But it doesn?t really matter.  Mediocrity is the standard they aspire to. Winning half of your games gets you a trophy and a new contract for five more years of 1 and 2 win seasons. We are right on track. We will maybe win six games against the teams in cusa and lower level teams. They will feel great and maybe even give him an extension so nobody will steal him. lol. Like Kugler and Dimel. People were wanting to steal top winning losers.
I will be hoping for the best but after forty years of UTEP I understand that the basic thing in rooting for a team is that they will win or get better enough to win. UTEP is not playing the same way. Winning is simply something that is possible but not the point. They truly are the embodiment of the saying it isn?t if you won or lost. It?s how you played the game in those losses.

Am I concerned for no reason?  You see, I love my school and I care about my fellow Miners who play and represent my school with pride. I have no feelings for the UTEP employees who didn?t attend my school and are just connected to the school by a paycheck. I already have lost much of my connection to the players with the NCAA turning them into just mercenaries. So now, tell me what the connection is between me the UTEP grad and any of the players. The paycheck?  I don?t know where this is going to end up. But I am losing my connection to UTEP sports as they will no be just a team of paid faceless, nameless players collecting a check. The amateurs have giver away the one thing that made them special. Heart. Heart has been traded for a few bucks.  How many of you will really care about the Miners wins and losses?  Do they even matter anymore or are you just paying to watch the show? 
Serious question. Are the players Miners if they only played a year at UTEP and they weren?t getting a post graduate degree?  How long will it be before the miners just play guys who are never miners other than the same way the guy during a UTEP pickup truck in maintenance is a Miner?
Btw, does making progress toward degrees even count anymore? 
Does anyone else feel like this is just the huge step in dismantling the entire system?  Or am I just crazy as usual.
