This is a representation of the legendary Colt 1911 45ACP. It became the standard issue sidearm for the Army, and the soldiers stationed out in the desert surrounding El Paso at Fort Bliss. It is the sidearm I qualified with at Fort Lewis, Washington in 1969. The U.S. Army eventually replaced it with a 9mm auto pistol to be more in line with the rest of NATO. It remains the sidearm of choice for many of those who use a sidearm in make their living. It is hanging on a twisted Sterling silver chain, 16 inches in length.
