Williams needs no comment. Amazing night in and night out.
Boum obviously had a monster night. Besides finally hitting his 3s, he contributed in a lot of ways and was the model for what the guards need to do. He did dribble-drive, he set up at the elbow, he rebounded. If he can make a habit out of this, it goes a long way to fixing our offense.
Lathon is still a solid point guard but has to learn that it is OK to drive the lane.
Edwards had a quiet night, but still contributed well. Drive the lane!
Verhoeven -- I am liking him more and more. He just has a solid head on his shoulders and nice court awareness. A couple times he set up at high post and that worked out very well.
Efe -- Gotta quit forcing it when it's not there, and go up with some freaking power when he gets it under the hoop. I don't know if he can even dunk, but if he can he should try to do it every time he's within a couple feet of the basket. He could be a monster if he could go up with authority.
Vila is less effective every game. His minutes will increasingly go to Verhoeven unless he can figure it out.
Hawkins is a little like Verhoeven. He doesn't do many dumb things, but needs to figure out how to contribute more offensively. He should continue to get minutes.
Archie is a freaking train wreck every time he is on the court. I don't know what it is that he does in practice, but it sure doesn't show up on court.
Tarke -- Athletic but so raw. As some have commented, not sure if he's here next year.
Stroud -- Seems to have reasonable control and court awareness but looks like he just won't be part of the rotation this year.
At this point, I think he has settled on his rotation. Starters are Lathon, Boum, Edwards, Verhoeven, and Williams. Big men off the bench are Efe and Vila. Guard subs are Hawkins, and he is going to continue to give Archie some minutes to see if he can sort himself out. So we will have an 8-9 man rotation, which is about right.
We still have extended moments when our offense stagnates. Every time this happens, our guards just pass the ball around the perimeter until someone randomly jacks up a 3. Usually that person is Edwards, who although he does some really dumb crap every game at least is aware of the shot clock. All the guards needs to remember they can drive the lane and good things will result. Vila's presence nearly always stagnates the offense, as he just provides one more body out at the 3 point line. Maybe we can stick him at the high post like we did with Verhoeven. A pick up top, then a roll to the elbow, pass to him and he can shoot, hit Williams down low, or kick it back out.
