    It's time for a good coach to teach his guys how to close out games.
    At the same time, if it was me I'd look at alternatives to Vila and maybe Boum and try something different.

    If you sit Vila, you maybe move Williams out to the wing.  He can hit the three and drive on his defender.  Then you put Efe under the basket, and Vila/Tarke relieves Williams and Verhoeven relieves Efe.  I would give the minutes to Tarke in this one and let him prove himself.

    If you sit Boum then you give Hawkins and Archie the bulk of the minutes to see who will step up.  Archie needs some minutes anyway to get in the flow -- or show he needs to ride the bench.  If he can't dominate Pine Bluff he isn't who we thought he was.

    • I agree with you.  I would like to see Efe see the floor more for rebounding and offense.  The Miners had 3(8 second chance pts?) offensive rebounds to nmsu's 11 (5 second chance points), they both had 25 defensive rebounds.  The 8 extra possessions gave the aggies the win.  In the first game against the aggies they had 14 and 25 15 second chance pts, to our 6 and 27 10 second chance points.

    Last season first nmsu game 3 and 25 Miners 4 second chance pts and nmsu 12 and 29 second chance pts 10.  Second game, nmsu 8 and 18 second chance points 5, to our 10 and 22 second chance points 8.

    • However, if the opponent has a guard that you just have to shut down, Boum is probably your guy.
    Hawkins is a pretty good defender, but he's kind of high risk high reward.  He gambles and it sometimes pays off and sometimes he gets beat.  He's often athletic enough to recover and make the play.
    From what i see of Archie, he has bought into the defense mentality and may be able to shut guys down with his length, but it's too early to tell.  He needs to dial it back and play within himself.  I think he was just trying to force too much.  Just take it back to basics and let it come to you.  This game should be good for him.

    • No one thought that I'd win with such a low score but it was even lower than that. Miners 59 APB 50. Wow, sure we're 6-1 but is that what we're to expect from this great team. If it was as great as the pundits have raved about then we would have won by 20+. It's very disappointing and I sure as heck don't hope that this team will be mimicking our "great" football team.
