  • I think everyone, including the administration at UTEP has just blown off the entire season after 7 games, and decided "Fuck it!"  I know that y'all think it was just fine not to do anything at the time.  I don't but won't argue the point.  But, what about next year. Who will be left here? What core team will be left?  What will we need and where will it come from?

  • All recruits have gone.

  • I sure hope we see this yrs freshman and Osbourne back. Watching last night's game was painful seeing how weak we are with the bigs. I think Roderick Williams and Kelvin Jones really screwed this team's chances this year. Williams the dynamic 3 we haven't had, and Jones a developmental big guy who would have had a plethora of PT, that is IF he doesn't foul out in 5 minutes. I don't blame Floyd for bailing after they left. There's a lot of blame to go around at UTEP beyond it's coaches, and also lies within UTEP admin and with it's frugal, apathetic fans. I'm encouraged Senter will bring in a good hire. Dimel is looking better and better each day with his staff and guys he's bringing in.

As far as new recruits, I think it's going to hinge on the new coach. If it's an old re-tread, i don't think it'll excite fans much, or the recruits we'd targeted. Personally, I'd like to have Steve Forbes from ETSU, but doubt we'd have much a shot. Someone with a Win-NOW mentality. I think one mistake Floyd made was not recruiting JCs much harder and not adapting to today's game. Not the ideal way to build a program, but a way to build momentum with winning. If the goal is to get into a better conference, you gotta win now. IMO.

  • "UTEP admin and with it's frugal, apathetic fans"

A little bit of a generalization, no? Have you not been reading the boards? Listen to sportstalk? Hung around and chatted with any sports fan in EP? Just because a FEW big donors had Bob's ear doesn't mean the rest of us are apathetic.

  • Senter will start to look for a new head coach in the next week or so. However, I don't know if he will be using a 3rd party search company or has a few in mind he wants to call himself.

  • That's good to know.  I think although there was some concern over the football coach, it's apparent that he wanted people with an aggressive approach.  I think that's exactly what we need for bball as well.
