  • I am a much happier person for my decision a while back not to watch any more Golding basketball.  Life is too short for bad basketball.  I've had much more enjoyment from watching some 3A middle school basketball than the nightmare that is UTEP basketball.  Not having watched since somewhere in early Dec, I could be wrong, but this might be worse than watching Rab ball.

I was a big supporter of hiring Golding, and I could not have been more wrong.

  • I know it is hard to keep backing Golding right now, but I?m still not convinced it?s him. Well, not directly, anyway. He just flat out needs to recruit guys who can shoot! It would be hard for any coach to win with guys who can?t throw it in the ocean from outside. I think we still need to let him recruit another year, and see what happens.  It?s very simple, now. Recruit some shooters!!

  • The underlying assumption here is that he could land shooters if only he knew that making shots was important?

I know this sounds unnecessarily harsh but think about it.  Either Golding really has no idea what skills are needed and what each recruit brings, or he is incapable of landing them.

Is there a 3rd option I?m missing that gives hope?

  • Yes, I see your point, Sis. I?m still trying to be positive, because good lord. Are we really having to deal with a Dimel situation already, only in basketball? It?s exhausting. I know we?re all tired of this.

I hope that AD who is about as wise as Dimel doesn't give Pyrite a raise and extension. That's what they do. *sigh*

  • Well, in fairness, Dimel fooled everyone with that bowl season. That is how he got his hooks in with the contract extension.  For basketball, we haven?t seen any sort of even mild success yet.

  • Dimel's bowl season it did appear that we were turning the corner.  Warning signs were there though, but we all drank the kool aid
