Sam has done the same thing in each of their three home losses: inability to stop the other team when the game is on the line.
Did any of you notice that when UTEP got the ball at the end of the first half with 44 seconds, trailing 21-10 they proceeded to march down the field (mostly with passes!) and get a field goal with 6 seconds left? And they pulled the same stunt again with 1:15 left in the game (with no timeouts!) and got the winning FG. This has been a common occurrence with SHSU in the home losses. Six points they gifted the Miners.
I?m glad the Miners were able to come back and win and, at the same time, unhappy that Sam still cannot stop a team when they really need to. Also, my son and I were still near some people who were parents of the SHSU players and I felt bad for them when the game was over.
But, the Miners won and the dismal Dimel train keeps on choogling. Amazing, no?
