  • Since I can't go to the games or to sports bars to watch the games I was wondering what you guys think would be better as far as getting all the utep games on the telly. I have Direct tv and what package should I get from them or if there is something better where it's guaranteed that I can get both the football and basketball telecasts, football preferably. Even though it might be a little expensive I figure I'll still come out ahead as I won't have to buy tickets to the home games or the expensive beer at a sports bar including the chow. I know it's not the same but beggars can't be chosers. It is what it is.

  • Mojo, I have espn+ and I think I have a UTEP package, too.  I watch almost all of the games I think and my wife and mother graduated from Ok St so I watch the big12.  I love them and they are worth what ever it is I pay for them.

I have Dish because it carries the PAC12 network for the Arizona game, the Big10 network for the Northwestern game, plus CBSSN for 3 UTEP games, ESPN2 for 3 more UTEP games and I subscribe to ESPN+ for the rest. Direct TV has all that on the "Ultimate" package except they don't carry the PAC12 network.

  • MIW, that sounds like where I might go. My wife keeps tabs on our expenses like a miser but I put my foot down and told her that I was going to go to whatever route I needed to go to watch the games. She's like many women, penny wise and pound foolish. I guess I shouldn't complain because if it wasn't for her managing the money we would be living in a hovel. She managed to pay the house in 11 years, one of my old time dreams for like forever.

She will not pay interest on anything if she can help it. If it's not on sale then we don't need it for the most part. Me, I couldn't care less, if I want it I'll pay it. I'm a salesmens best customer, penny and pound stupid. LOL

  • Your wife sounds like a winner, mojo. Good luck on the tv choice. I forgot to mention that I bought Firestick so I can watch espn+ games on the tv instead of my tablet. I think it was $45 one time expense but worth it to me. If she has favorite tv channels make sure to include them to help with your sales pitch.

  • In the past I have had ESPN+ and CUSA TV which got me most games for not much money.  I'm not re-upping until UTEP shows me they care about winning.
