  • From a twitter account:

Oct 22 Tarleton State @ UTEP (Billy G's team comes to town)

Oct 29 UTEP @ Texas Tech

Would be interesting to get some info leaked about these games.

  • So did anyone hear anything at all about the super secret scrimmage on Saturday between the Miners and Tarleton State? Hard to believe there wasn't a leak about this somewhere in the universe.

There were no Democrats around to leak the information. LOL

  • Was texting with Kappy & he said Miners lost by 4 points to Ŧ. He said our defense was really good. I know some key kids have left Ŧ, but that is still a sweet 16 team last year. We are also a very different team than last year. I like what I'm hearing so far.

    Thanks for the update. Encouraging.

  • Also, my buddy who is a Ŧ Booster said Ŧ couldn't score or even feed kids in the paint. He said while Ŧ won, they were not the better team.
Not a bad start. Let's see how that translates to conference play.

  • Now that's exciting.  Really looking forward to seeing what Goldings first team of mostly his guys looks like.  I find intense defensive basketball exciting.  I absolutely loved Richardson's 40 minutes of hell.

  • If Golding turns out to be gold in the rough UTEP better start saving their money to keep him. It would make me ecstatic to have another Haskins true to the school. It'll never happen I know, it's all about the benjamins, no loyalty to anything other than money. *sigh*

Should be a great atmosphere with Texas ranked 12th in rhe AP pre-season poll, new arena and all. I'll be watching on the LHN but jealous because being there in person can't be beat. Hoping for a solid game from the Miners and I don't think they will face a more daunting environment or better team the rest of the season.

Texas Tech is no slouch either as they are 25th in the AP poll. UTEP may be pretty darn good this year.

  • UTEP is pushing for a sellout for the 1st home mbb game vs NMSU. They are saying that 7,400 tickets have already been "issued". I hope that translates to butts in seats. A good showing at #12 Texas on Monday might push ticket sales over the top.
