  • And Tyrin Smith is staying.  Probably unrelated but a good thing I think

From whence does he come from? Is he an ex-college player, i.e., a transfer? How good is he?...and how do you know?

  • Don't know that he has Hardison's arm, but I would take efficiency and accuracy.  I just hope it's an open competition and may the QB that can best execute Dimel's offense win.

23 TD vs 5 INT is a great ratio.

    Agreed.
I'll take accuracy over arm strength any day. UTEP was hoping to teach this kid some accuracy, but that has been taxing. We need  someone else to compete for that position & get him out of his funk.

  • I'm with you there Chanson. It's like in basketball accuracy is more important than someone who jacks up shot after shot and not make but one or two.

I just saw the 49ers QB beat the Rams with short passes because of his accuracy and sometimes that's all you need. I love accuracy and Hardison doesn't have it. I hope that this guy can run the ball too in case he's in a jam.

  • Expanding on this thought, the main thing wrong with our offense was too many wasted plays leading to too many 3 and out.  This wasn't because of the old Kug run between the tackles on 1st and 2nd down leading to 3rd and 7.  With the exception of Dimels need to run the wildcat inside the 20, it really was about too many wasted plays where a fairly short game control pass on 1st or 2nd was uncatchable.

Hardison was also a little like Boum.  Boum's 35% from 3 isn't so bad, it's just that some nights he's 75% from 3 and some he's 16%.  Hardison would sometimes do that in a single game.  Go 0-8 until we are down 17 then all of a sudden hit every pass while we are down.

In Dimel's scheme, just a few more downs each possession would have won us 3 more games including the bowl game.

BUT, I watched some highlights of the new guy.  I don't claim to know a lot about throwing form, but his form looked weird to me.  It also looked like he threw a bunch of passes that would get intercepted at this level.  So IDK.  Again I just want an open competition.  Just a slight upgrade at QB would have been the difference between a good season and a historical one.

  • I want the coach to stop trying to ram it in between the tackles. If an opposing team is aware of what he's gonna do (as we are most of the time) then fake a ramming halfback and go to the sides. In the sides there's always perhaps one or two defenders and it's easier to evade them or power through then through 300 pound guards and tackles. It irks me to no end to see this stupid run play. GO THROUGH THE SIDES. It's even easier to find a lone receiver if the QB runs to the flanks and then finding the receiver most of the time all alone because the pass defense leaves him alone to tackle the QB.

So I say to our coach, it's all common sense...USALA.

  • Do any of our RBs have the speed necessary?  We seem to recruit them for power
