  • Shemar Wilson from Phoenix CC. Averaged a double/double for two years. The other teams recruiting him isn't too impressive, but I think that's more due to JC kids not getting the volume of offers as in pre-rona times because of D-1 kids getting another year of eligibility. I'll leave the technical analysis of the kid's skills to others.

We also have an LOI from 6'9" SF Khalfani Hill, have read he's 6'10" now.

It'll be interesting to see who leaves. I really like this team and the character of the individuals so it'll be hard to see any of these guys go.

  • I looked at a little film.  I don't feel like I'm particularly expert at evaluating bigs.  He seemed pretty mobile, good athlete, nice touch.  Highlight reels never show the guys playing D, boxing out, setting picks, etc so hard to tell.  But looks like a reasonable pickup.  Probably a better scorer than TV, and of course Efe only has a 3" vertical.

  • I saw some videos & looked OK.

  • It looks like this kid has decommitted. Only took a few weeks.
Based on my previous post on this kid, I still stand by that this kid is OK. I think Onema is more athletic that the Wilson kid. Wilson did not jump off the page, IMO.
Also, I'm reading CRT might have held on to Vila & BW for 1 more year & that's why the kid is looking elsewhere. It doesn't matter, to me, who comes or stays. What matters is CRT should be on the HOT 🔥 Seat his 4th year. Hopefully that fire under his ass gets him to produce.

  • Getting rid of coaches in EP is like getting rid of politicians in EP. Look at the US Representative for instance. How many years did Richard White, then others including Oroark and now Veronica. She can be guaranteed a job forever like Pelosi if she wishes. No one will vote her out and that goes for local pols, the country attorney, the city attorney, etc. etc. But...all we do is complain.

  • If BW is coming back, I have very mixed feelings about it.  When he is feeling it, he is unstoppable, like against Kansas.  And really our entire team goes as he goes.  When he's on fire we are on fire.  When he's not we're not.  Unless he is prepared to come out with fire every night, I'm ready to move on.  And I'm not saying it's a conscious decision on his part, just that it is what it is, and unless that changes we will continue to be mediocre except when we are playing teams that are easy to get emotionally up for.

  • Thanks for saying that, Sisy. I hope BW does not come back for the same reasons you mentioned. He is on about 1/3 of the time. He never figured out how to pass to the open man when he got double teamed. Also, his defense is not that good.
CRT's set plays are for BW to pound it in the paint. BW has made CRT lazy. We need quick shooters & defenders.

  • Well apparently we have replaced Shemar with Keith Fisher -- a 6-8 grad transfer from Illinois St.  Not sure what that means about BW, but as this fella is a one and done player, it looks like CRT is putting all his chips on winning next year.

WKU will be losing Bassey.  UAB and La Tech are pretty senior-heavy, as is UNT.  I notice BTW that UNT has a LOT of JUCO transfers on their team.  I don't really understand the rules for who has to graduate and who gets to stay, and I feel like its unfortunate that the kids graduating HS the last few years are getting screwed.

A more mature JB, SB, TV, KK, and supporting cast should be among the better lineups.  But lets face it -- we need to have substantially superior athletes to have a really good season because we will get outcoached most nights.

  • Vuk is transfering out. I liked him, but he was a liability with scoring & on D. I wish him well.

  • Meh.  I didn't think he looked like he was ever going to be D1 material.  Maybe I'm wrong.  It is concerning that it leaves us with just the one PG however.  I don't like any of the other guards bringing the ball up court.  I once thought Boum could handle it, but I was wrong about that.

Maybe we have a transfer coming in?  Why else would he leave unless CRT told him he wasn't going to be the man in a couple years?  Unless he realized Terry doesn't know his crap.

Bienemy is decent.  Better than decent.  He just can't score, and does get a bit out of control sometimes.  I think we have been a bit spoiled by the long line of really really good PGs here, even in the post-Haskins era.

  • Vuk was the best ball handler on the team, however, that was really all he could do. Terry needs shooters & defenders.

  • I'm OK with Efe going as well. He is a big liability on defense & is OK on Offense. I think he might be going because of that 6'9" transfer coming in.
