  • Looking at the other teams and who they beat and what their losses were, they all have to be thinking the same things as us.  WKU, UAB, LaTech have a couple OK wins and a few questionable losses.  I think this conference is wide open.  I was going to post that WKU was the team to beat but Bassey is out for the season, which I didn't realize.

I think right now we are top 4, and we have the most upside.  I do agree that we would be middle of the pack WCC, AAC, or MWC this year, but we were so so bad last year.

Next year is make or break.  Unless we lose a key player, on paper we should be favored to win conference, and we should be top 50 in the new NET rankings.  Anything less is underperforming, and raises serious questions about Terry.

We should really try to be much more aggressive in our scheduling next year.

Sis, if we have any thought of running with the big dogs that is who we have to run with.  We can't run around with a pack of Pekinese even if we are the biggest one and expect to be anything more than the biggest Pekinese in the pack.  Big time players don't want to play eighth graders and beat them up.  They want the challenge of going up against high quality teams.  We are a team right now that drags good teams ratings down even if they beat us.  It is the old rpi like problem where we are better off playing much higher rated teams and winning half of the games than we are playing who we are and winning.  That is why we are stuck in a one bid league.  I don't know that we can, but if we don't we will continue to not be taken seriously.  It will speak volumes when we see our OOC schedule next year.

  • Completely agree with everything you said.  Gonzaga did this for years before they became what they are today.

  • This is all so true!  In fact, I was wondering why UTEP had so much difficulty scheduling good teams lately... I thought I was missing something.  LOL!
I can't wait to actually see us play some real teams.  Although in fairness, we could have done that in this last tournament, but we just couldn't get it done.
    Let's go Brandon!
