Dimel was Co-Offensive Coordinator at K State. He is 2 and 15 under Canales as OC. Supposedly, Dimel could fire Canales right now-today, and take over those duties IF he wasn't ok with what he sees. But, Dimel is just fine with where the team is and what they are doing. They just need to execute the offense better is what he says, oh, and eliminate those costly penalties. I know, firing Canales would make coaches leery of taking the position. My ass! I know one OC named Eric Price that would bring instant offense and I am pretty sure he would take the job-and I don't know anything about the coaches out there and who is available.
It seems to me that jumping at the chance to give Kugler an extension and offering Dimel a 5 year contract without seeing him coach a single game were almost worthy of criminal investigation. The Kugler one I could argue that he had shown some signs of life-but to jump to keep him for three extra years based on that was questionable, at best. Like he was going to be stolen from us and couldn't be replaced. Still, he was a Miner and one of Stull's boys. But, Dimel was given a golden parachute for his retirement-not from K State, but from UTEP!? Man, we really locked him in with that 5 year contract, eh! Oh well, you can't argue with success.
