  • I was happy o see El Paso's homeboy Coach Lopez representing the Eastwood Troopers and El Paso so well last night.  The Troopers were a very tough bunch who fought hard the entire game.  I wanted to somehow tell the players that when I was covering the Miners practices and going to every game when Julio was here, that no one was tougher than Lopez.  I used to figure games didn't really get going right until he had gone across the middle only to be sandwiched by a couple two or three linebackers at full speed from which he would be the first one up.  Talk about El Paso Strong, boy buddy he was a perfect fit!

  • It was a great game. I just wish the officials had made the right call on the fumble. That missed call changed the whole game. Eastwood had all the momentum but it was taken away on that play. Very proud on the guys and the coaching staff, that have had a lot to deal with this past week. I also want everyone to know that Plano treated Eastwood with total class. Jerry Jones was also great, in addition to the city of Frisco. Just glad I got to be there. Eastwood's quarterback is the real deal. UTEP has been talking to him since last year and Coach Dimal has been on campus to watch and speak with him. I have seen lots of kids and I can tell you there is something special about Christian Castaneda

  • It's nice to hear that UTEP is interested in Castaneda. He IS a GOOD QB. I noticed the talent in his passes, he is right on most of the time. Even in long passes he was accurate. He reminds me a little of the UT-Austin QB in his scrambling skills. He has the same don't give up attitude and I like that. I hope we recruit him and he accepts. He's much better than what we've got right now, that's for sure.
