  • What is different is we have size on the line. Anyone can fall & plug a hole. I'm not sure how athletic the D line is, but the linebackers can make up for that. In combo with Kuglar winning the minutes battle, we can hopefully frustrate some teams.
A good theory is if our D is slightly better, we can win 2 more games.

I completely agree with that -- for last season.  If offense doesn't take a dip down then yes.  If they do, the D might just keep us even.

  • Yep, we're going to have to essentially take two steps forward this season if we are going to be improved, not just one.  We will need to take one step forward just to keep up with the more difficult schedule, then another step forward after that if we are going to show improvement.  No excuses, because last year was the blown opportunity with an easier schedule and more home games, yet we did not take a step forward on the field last year.  We'll keep our fingers crossed for a better season this year.

    Good article on UTEP's DL.

"The Miners are going younger, bigger, and more athletic up front and the change could be huge for UTEP's hoped resurgence."

  • Nice little write up. We all get excited when football is around the corner. In this case, I'm super pumped.
In the beginning of camp, the D line was tripping all over their own feet, according to an inside source. If those boys can hold there position for a second or two more than last year, we will be able to hold the run. However, I question the pass rush. No one has notated where we are with this. Which means, it's not good right now. I hope we can show up.
