  • I am not sure of all the things they are doing but it looks like they are adding more handicap seating areas. It also looks like they are putting padding on the benches.

  • I've read a lot about renovating the Sun Bowl, building a new one, etc.

As a spectator, I guess I have fairly low standards.  I go to watch the game.  I care about adequate parking, enough bathroom space, enough entrance gates and gate staff.  All of which I mainly care about so they don't get in the way of watching the game.  I don't want to wait in mega lines for anything.   I don't frequent concessions because I don't need a $5 hot dog.  Obviously I expect a safe structure, so if that's a concern money must be spent on that.

Not a luxury box user, so I suppose they have different concerns.  By all means make the mega donors happy.  As an AD or president, if was trying to decide where to put my limited funds, it would be on things that make donors happy, and things that make quality players want to come here.  Probably the comfort of the bleachers is not high on the priority lists of either group.

Personally, I'm paying to watch a UTEP team play and be competitive.  I'm much more likely to pay if I think they are likely to win.  The stadium barely registers.  I kind of think that winning is a big part of making quality players want to come and making mega donors happy.

Just win.  Or if you can't do that, just don't suck.

  • I would stand for three hours a game if we would win.  And we would be 13 and 0 for as long as my old legs could stand do it.  We had a top ranked coach land in our lap and it instantly brought success but interest from top talent for awhile.  The revenue generated from a full house and all that goes with it is what winning does.  We have some nice new seats to leave empty while we lose.  But, the donors will be comfy.  That, my friends, is life in El Paso.  Priorities.
