  • Thompson, commish of the MWC, says he has talked to 6 universities since August, one of them for sure is Gonzaga. BYU is a possibility and I'm sure NMSU and UTEP have been on the phone too. Doesn't mean anything will come of it but Senter is not shy and I wouldn't doubt that he would jump into the middle of that discussion. Interesting times.

Chanson, have you heard anything related to this?

  • Once I had bought into the storyline that associating with other Texas schools would bring us recruits we never had access to.  This turned out to be a snare and a delusion.  Is MWC the promised land?  Is it at least better than the fetid swampland we are currently in?

I don't really see what MWC has to offer Gonzaga that they don't already have.  They play all the big name schools, they are on TV all the time, and they are guaranteed a bid every year.

  • I truthfully have not heard about this subject. We all know Floyd took a shot at Natalicio in his retirement speech that UTEP needs to move to the MWC.
Natalicio has either rejected or has not responded to multiple invites throughout the years for the MWC. The recent one was a few years ago that I reported here on the Den & multiple sources within UTEP gave the check of approval before hitting her desk.
I could only hope we get a better reaction this time.

On another note, Natalicio wouldn't waist here time with other conferences during preliminary activity, so I'm betting Senter was the contact point. I hope he has better luck pushing The Prez than Stull did.
