  • UTEP is a 4 point dog at the Sun Bowl.  FAU is going to have to deal with the time change and the travel up in altitude about 3700 feet above sea level.  We will be the strong Miners!  That means that the bonus points will be up for grabs if the Miners win in the preseason pick points.

The fact that Dimel has had an extra week to thinking and plan makes me a little uneasy.  You, know, like he will have had time to come up with something really dumb to try.  Not the usual dumb.  Something special like a wishbone offense, or something.

But I think he is going to go back to his run, run, run, and then surprise them with a run offense.  I think the Miners' defense wins this game.  FAU will find that a packed house will pump up the defense and shock FAU.  They end up leaving feeling like Boise did.  Hurt.  Deeply hurt.

  • It's really tough to know.  They do seem to play to the level of their competition.

Packed house?  I'd put more money on a win.   What's the over/under on actual butts in seats?

LOL,  ;D A packed crowd of 11,000? I know you were being sarcastic, I know you were. It brought a chuckle nonetheless.

  • Holy crap!  I had no idea that the attendance had dropped to this level.  I went to see what the attendance was for the Boise game, expecting to see in the forty thousands and found 11,2xx.  North Texas was 46k!  Well, that is what you get when you go from Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Hyde.

  • I was.  UNT was 46k and the next home game was NMSU and even with extra gaggies it was down to 23k. But 11 thousand for Boise.  It shows you how much money the dumb loss to the Lobos cost UTEP.  Had the Miners beat the Lobos, I predict the attendance for the BSU game would have been more than double what it was, easily.  That was 15 thousand butts in the seats, eating and buying concessions that were like steam just evaporated away into the thin air.

Instead of a packed house, how about oh, since UTEP isn't into tailgating anymore, I don't think, maybe we can get 20 thousand to come out for a nice day.

  • No one cares about FAU.  I bet if you did a man on the street poll you?d get less than 5% know who they are

  • Fans of most G5 reams are fickle. Ours are not only fickle but they have been abused more than most. The UTEP AD did a great job of selling out the opener and over hyped the team. Then the team botched a game they could have won and the fans thought "here we go again".

This staff has not kept this team focused or prepared. It should have 2 or 3 more wins. The talent is there but not the coaching. Even so, I'm still pulling for the Miners to reach a bowl this season.

  • Would it be fair to say we are a mult-dimensional team that tends to play one dimensional individual games?  Occasionally apparently from an alternate dimension...

  • Turnovers. UTEP is 114th in the nation in turnover margin. 7 at UNM. 4 at LT. Clean that up and the Miners might get the win.

  • This game is do or die.   Win this and they have four wins with two expected wins at home against FIU and MTSU.  Lose this and they are pretty much guaranteed a losing season.

  • We just don't know which team is going to show up.

  • Dimel has had an extra week to prepare and/or overstrategererize for this game.  I think the defense comes in rested and hungry.  Dimel seems not to be able to screw them up except from the offense putting them in positions they shouldn't.  It is a crazy year.  Defense is the difference today and we win because of it.

  • Probably because he lets his DC run the defense.  If he had an OC that he let run the offense I might be on board with keeping him.
