  • ?Conference USA has a television deal with CBS that expires after the 2022-23 season.
It reported about $6.4 million in total television and marketing revenue on 2019 tax returns.
The conference will also lose six other schools to the American Athletic Conference, likely by the 2023-24 season.?

I am wondering if and how the whole cusa dismantle and rebuild will be affected and will affect upcoming contracts.  I am wondering if it has been a serious problem for Golding in recruiting.  Players are looking for playing time and to be able to play big and move up.  The players who started last year are looking to move up and the players who couldn't break into the starting lineup are looking to move laterally or down to get the pt.  So, we want the best players at a lower level to move up, lateral moves by players for time, and big teams  players move down.  So far, Agnew moved down, JB moved on and hopefully up.  Boum and TV moved up to cartel teams. Saterfield and White moved down.  Clardy, Giffa, and Maring, are looking down and KK still looking to move up.
The players we have landed if we look at them that way are los Anjos and Hamilton are moving up as are the rest except McKinney and Zachary maybe moving laterally.  I haven't seen anything to make me feel good.
But, I have watched Texas Tech recruiting and they are just landing leaping unknowns and that guy knows what he is doing.

  • It doesn't feel like the decisions on TV deals or conference alignments are purely monetary.  It has an arbitrary feel of picking winners and losers.

It's been commented that Liberty has the $$ to be a serious sports college.  Yet I think their strong religious affiliations may hurt in terms of a TV deal.

There's so much weirdness with the transfers.  If we found the money for good NIL deals we could probably significantly upgrade our talent, or at least keep some around.

The NCAA is trying very hard to drive me away just like NBA and NFL have.  I would wholeheartedly support a secession by the have nots.

  • The NCAA is no longer an amateur athletics organization.  It has become the semi-pro athlete association.  I took my dad to his first Raiders game in 1964.  I lost interest mostly when they moved away from Oakland.  It went from players in the community to just mercenary players.  I now kind of follow the NFL.  Kind of.  I loved having a college to root for.  The love, the shared love for our school.  That is pretty much out the door, too.  The fact that Boum and TV got their degrees keeps me going-barely.  The love has turned to the greed and that ain't even close to the same.  The thing is, it has become the only game in town so it is either root for the mercenaries or don't even care about sports anymore.  As much as I think that sucks it seems to be fine with everyone else as the numbers don't seem to be dropping in any way to make the powers that be decide to fix it.  So, it is a slow death of passion.  It is hard to care about a team when the only thing you know about the team is the name.

  • NCAA needs to be gone.
