Conference USA released the 2022 football schedule and UTEP has a couple of games on the schedule with teams that may or may not be playing in our conference. Marshall, ODU, and Southern Miss have announced that they are gone as of June 30thto join the Sunbelt Conference. C-USA says you can't and the three teams are saying watch us. So, at the moment the Miners are selling season tickets to games that may or may not be played. The Sunbelt is supposed to release their schedules in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile Spring Ball is right around the corner. I am wondering if the two games, one here with SM and the other in Norfolk will if they aren't played a) be replaced and b) how it might affect a need to have the number of wins needed to go to a bowl.
While we are at it, how will it affect the basketball season scheduled? Also, the three teams are saying they are gone as of July first but what is or will be the status of the other teams leaving? I believe OU and UT will be gone before the football season begins to the SEC and the filling in could be chaotic.
Finally, if the schedule is what we end up with I like it.
