  • Football -- This is the year we find out if Dimel has what it takes.  Losing our receiving corps.  QB has been wildly inconsistent.  Special teams a nightmare.  In particular, losing the receivers hurts a lot.  They were basically our only legit source of moving the ball.  Unless replaced by similar quality receivers, we go back to 3 yds and a cloud of dust every down and essentially no offense.  Hardison is serviceable.  We won't win 10+ games with him at QB but we can win 6-7 again with good enough receivers.  So in summary, Dimel priority needs to be finding receivers and fixing special teams.  Do that and we can get to another bowl.  Fail to do that, and maybe time to move on.

Basketball -- So far the Golding era is disappointing.  I had very much hoped that he could get more out of the offense than CRT could, and that at the very least his D would win some games that the O couldn't.  In reality, the D while aggressive is very porous, and the O is not improved.  Boum scores on volume, Kennedy and Bienemy inconsistent at best.  No inside scoring at all.  Good news is we have two efficient scorers on the team and they are a sophomore (Satterfield) and a Freshman (Sibley).  Assuming the upper classmen guards all return got to find a way to improve their efficiency.

2022 is not going to be a good year for hoops.  What needs to happen will be on the recruiting trail / transfer portal.  Must, must, must upgrade the bigs.  Sibley is the only big guy that must be kept.  Kalu and Maring may be able to become useful players in time, but doubtful they will be ready by fall 2022 to carry the load. Gotta find a dominant  center that can step in immediately.  IMO, the cupboard was pretty bare when CGT stepped in, but he has not improved what we had, so he better find the improvement in new players.  Next season needs to look like it's on the right trajectory.  This season I will be happy if the guys can figure out how to shut the back door defensively.

  • Agreed.
