  • So apparently Dimel has NCAA violations on his team.  Can we fire him with cause and skip the payout?

  • Trust the process.  The coach doesn?t have control but we are building a program here. The assistant coaches knew that they were breaking the rules but did it anyway. Respect. They showed their respect for the program. And Dimel. The violations were just stupid and the penalties are a pretty good match. Dimel must tell recruits that he is a dumbass. In ten years have we won twenty games?  Only UTEP could have found a way to get in this trouble. It is a perfect fit.

  • Winning cures most things & this can easily be forgotten if we make it to a bowl this year. What winning doesn't cover is that crap that happened at Baylor, SMUs death penalty, etc.

  • Who ratted on the program? And if those were all the violations they can find UTEP has the cleanest program anywhere.

  • That does seem really lame.  Like the violations where Ruben's Campus Queen was giving the athletes free chili.  I am so sure that made all the difference.

I was just hoping for an excuse to can Dimel.

  • I couldn?t believe what I was reading.  Girls from the softball team started texting the new head coach about when they could start up the ?extras?, meaning extra individual practices. The coach self reported and while the ncaa was snooping they found football coaches coaching like too many minutes and too many coaches coaching. But, they had been told they couldn?t do by UTEP compliance and they did it anyway so Dimel was citing for lack of control because he claimed he didn?t know about it. Just insanely stupid shit!   Like he can?t actually coach for four days and has to tell recruits we are on probation for his stupidity. Only a team that may be the worst in football could manage this and the ncaa basically fined the ten year old kids so poor they have no shoes for selling lemon aide.

  • What exactly does "Probation" mean? Can the football team not compete for a bowl come Fall semester? Does Dimel's 4dys mean that the team can't practice for 4 days or just that Dimel himself can't be on a field? The article has unnecessary detailed info on what the 9nfraction was, but failed to get specific on what the punishment really is.
I gave up after Dimel's 1st year & have found no reason to get back on any Band Wagon. Men & Women's basketball seem to be the bright sides to UTEP's failing athletic department.

  • I read the actual legal papers but couldn?t find them going back but felt like the link gave the information that I was relating. The team can practice those four days but he can?t be there. It really does come down to minutes and numbers of coaches individually coaching players.  It is nit picking of rules. BUT it isn?t that. The compliance department told them they couldn?t do it but the coaches admitted that because they wanted to get better at coaching and moving up the coaching ladders that they did it anyway. Dimel had a choice of admitting he knew they were doing it or playing stupid. Stupid was the easy choice. For a year he has to tell recruits we are on probation for his lack of control I not knowing. For those concerned about us being able to go to a bowl game. Bless your heart. Lol. We aren?t disallowed from going bowling. Not by the ncaa.

  • So this means we can't get a spot in the BCS?
