  • I read all 50+ pages. It all sounds great, but sports got 1 sentence. I cut/pasted the sentence and attached it. I completely understand academia must be the focus, but 1 freaking vague sentence.
    I'm curious about your thoughts.

  • There's a huge difference between a wish list, a vision, and a plan.  When you get a vaguely worded statement with absolutely nothing about how it's going to be accomplished, it is not a strategic plan.  It's not even a vision.  It's a "damn I have no freakin idea and I really hope it works out by itself".

I sincerely hope the other 50 pages have specifics about how they are actually going to achieve continued academic excellence.

  • I think that it says exactly what she intended for it to say. It speaks volumes. For the next ten years UTEP will have high quality athletics that blah blah blah. Like I could blow smoke up your ass all day long but hopefully you and I both have better things to do. Don?t expect anything to change. I guarantee you that she considered what she has seen as she described it-high quality.
It also tells me that winning and losing are unimportant as long as you call it high quality.
Her statement reminds me of Al Davis? Commitment to excellence except hers is a bit less. And a bit short of, ?Just win, baby!?

For the record, I am very very disappointed in UTEP leadership, even more than the usual forty years minus a couple of accidental successes, of disappointment.

  • I did have one other thought.

Presumably she worked with her department heads on the other sections.

So either she asked Senter for his plan and this was the BS he gave her and she was fine with that,
OR she didn't even bother to ask him.

    Neither is encouraging

I agree 100% with you Sis. It seems that she's just echoing an AD who is interviewing for a job. There's nothing of substance in that one sentence. I feel like we're doomed and if SadSack gets hired I don't know how much I'll care to follow UTEP basketball or any other sport for that matter. I'm at the door and awaiting whether I'll get called back.
