  • I am increasingly convinced we don't actually have an offensive game plan.  Terry's game plan is "have better players".  We have a couple "plays" with no particular goal other than for someone to shoot when they feel open or the clock is running down.  On the other hand, the last five minutes of the game the team figured out that they can penetrate and draw fouls or kick back out and it works.  Maybe Terry will have noticed this, or maybe they will figure it out on their own.  For most of the season and for the first 35 minutes last night we live and die by the three, and we are one of the worst teams in the country at shooting it.

Our screens up top that theoretically are supposed to free up the guards for 3s or penetration or pick and roll are ridiculously ineffective.

If we are willing to go more uptempo and more penetrate and make plays, we need Archie and Stroud to get minutes at the 3 position. They have the athleticism and size to take it to the hole.
Hawkins has to be the primary point, IMO.

Kaden Archie is coming into his own.
Vila had a great game rebounding but still sucks in every other aspect of the game.  Efe was awful but why not Tarke?
Edwards is still our only consistent 3 pt threat.

  • It seems to me as if the game plan is. Let's shoot the 3 in the first half and if that doesn't work let's work the paint in the 2nd half! Ummm yeah. Great plan coach...

  • Sisy- I always look forward to your input. Keep it up. Anyway, you are right. It's a pick up game. Not even Williams takes advantage of the dbl team & hitting the open man.
Odigie & Lathon were terrible while Vila can only rebound. I'd pit Boum in that 3pt conversation with Edwards. Archie can flat out guard & is our only driving threat. Stroud tried, but still looks a bit clumsy. He did have a huge dunk that was the most athletic thing I have seen in a while.
I was listening to Teich & Yellin on the way back & Yellin said, "finally a win & some chemistry." That proved to me Yellin has no clue what he is doing. There is no chemistry on this team. I see them trying, but it seems no one wants the ball except Williams.
The last thing I want to say is I was very impressed with the 90%+ at the FT line. Southern Miss fouled everyone driving. With that stat, why are we not driving in every possession?

Anyway, I like the win & I hope these kids try to build some confidence, because with the talent we have along with the depth, we should have won at least 3 more road games.
