  • Assuming the current situation holds, we have:

Hawkins, Boum, Edwards, Williams, Efe, Verhoeven, Tarke, Archie, Vila   sharing minutes.

Interesting to note that out of high school, Boum was a PG and Hawkins a SG.  For now, I see Hawkins at PG and Boum at SG.  Boum takes over at PG when Hawkins needs a breather.

Edwards is SG only, I wouldn't let him run the point.

Archie, Vila and Tarke are basically all SF to me.  None have a reliable 3 pt shot, but can drive the lane and make things happen.  Worth noting here are that Archie and Tarke are shooting around 50% from the field.  Archie has shown signs of having a valid 3 pt shot, so he may be able to help with this.

Efe has a nice touch on jump shots but has no power moves under the hoop, Verhoeven does lots of nice things except for scoring.  Williams is Mr. Everything.  Defensively this is a short rotation.  Vila can play the 4 offensively a bit, but is useless on D in the paint.

So up until this point we had gone with a 3 guard set most of the time ( 1 point, 2 SG), and we might start the game that way, but we can't play the 3 true guards all game.  So we have to spend a lot of time with a more traditional 1,2,3.

IMO this might be a good thing for us.  I think the 3 guard set was part of why we would go so stagnant, along with Lathon's passivity.  Boum and Edwards were basically waiting around the 3 line for an open shot and only rarely drove the lane.

Since we do not know the emotional state of the guys at this point, I would say that we should not panic over discombobulation on this road trip, and just focus on seeing how CRT moves the pieces around and whether or not the passivity issue seems to be improving.

Side note:  I think these guys could really benefit from an uptempo offense, only not sure whether they can do that and play intense D with the personnel they have.

I agree. With our apparent depth, it's been disappointing to me that we weren't running an uptempo offense and more pressing D.
