Looking at UTEP our UTEP Scoring to Opponents Scoring ratio the number is 1.865

For comparison sake Bama's Team/Opponent Score Ratio is 0.333

Of course, the schedule would have much to do with the ratio.  For instance, the aggies have played a tougher schedule than the Miners so the higher ratio score doesn't tell the whole story.  But, the numbers are the numbers.  Bama plays in the SEC and we play in C-USA.  NMSU is an independent.  Houston Baptist is a lower level of competition.

Looking just at the numbers, FIU is perhaps a little tougher than S. Miss and that was 18 point loss game.  LA Tech really tough and would project an even bigger points loss that TT-maybe 40+ points.  North Texas and even Charlotte should get 15 to 20 points more than us, and UAB is going to be really ugly.  You can weigh the difference in schedules but, just going by the numbers we should be able to handle NMSU(I am afraid that the competition factor is big and I don't believe we will win big).  But, take heart!  It appears that we have a real shot at beating Rice.  Maybe.  It could happen.

Anyways, lies, damned lies, and statistics.  Something to consider and maybe talk about other than losing.

After further study and making some graphs, I start with UTSA and their 1.9 and UTEP's 1.9 equaling a ten point loss.  So, once that adjustment is made, that we are ten point losers to teams with an equal T/OSR the numbers look like this.  Texas Tech's 0.9 was worth a 35 point win, S. Miss's 1.0 was worth 18  Nevada's 1.7 was worth 16.  Looking ahead, FIU has a 0.8 making their win worth 38 points, LA Tech's 0.7 =40 points, North Texas will win by 18  with their 1.0, Charlotte has a 1.2 for 17 points, UAB's 0.6 means they hang 50 more than we do on us, NMSU only beats us by 8 and Rice is equal to us in ratio so they win by 10.

It is my school, so win or lose, I have to think about UTEP football.  Or not care at all about college football.  My wife is an Oklahoma State grad, as was my mother, and my dad attended, so I also pull for the Cowboys. 

Sigh.  I am still hoping a miracle will happen and I will have to eat crow because Dana has become the legend that turned it all around.
