    • I thought this would be a quiet off season for a change. Apparently not.

    Smith resigns due to involvement in college bribery scandal, Burton let go and Wenzel released. On the bright side, this opens the door for an impact grad-transfer.

    • I am obviously thinking about losing recruits who are not here. Zarzuela & Vila come to mind. I'm not sure if Smith or Burton recruited them, but I hope they both stay. I'm not sure if you all pay attention to JC championships, but Vila's team just lost to Billy Clyde in the semi-finals. Vila needs to be coached up a bit, but he will still be a good role player here, if he stays. Wenzel kicked but this year & won some awards for his sick shooting. It will change once he hits D1 level talent. Zarzuela already has quickness & should be fine come middle of the season, if he stays.

    • Playing around on twitter this morning & saw Zarzuela is still committed even with the coaching changes. Very good to know. He is ranked higher than Wenzel in TX & is the quicker & craftier player of the 2, while Wenzel may have the edge on shooting.
    Anyway, we have room for 1 more player & I'm willing to bet CRT will use it to pick up a grad transfer guard. With the exception of Odigie, Terry picks long kids up that like to run & gun.  Much like the style of UAB & LA Tech.
    I love that style, but the only way it works is if you have a big presence in the paint. Houston is another long quick team.

    • I'd agree, I think Terry has to go with a grad transfer that can make an impact. After this dismal season, I hope he goes all in on winning now. Sorry to lose Wenzel, glad to still have Zarzuela though and my preference of the two. Of the grad transfers I've looked over and 3 stand out so far, although I'm sure the list will grow. But I hope we get the assistants figured out first and soon.

    3.3 star - James Bolden 6 ft PG West Virginia
    4 star - Haanif Cheatham 6-5 SG Florida Gulf Coast via Marquette
    4 star - Jaylen Fisher 6-2 PG TCU

    • All three of the aforementioned are shooters; better than anyone on last year's UTEP roster (Gilyard 35%), if statistics mean anything. Hence, the reason I thought they stood out.

    Bolden is a 39% career shooter from 3pt.
    Cheatham is a 37% career shooter from 3 pt.
    Fisher is a 41% career shooter from 3 pt.

    • Does Kendall Small fit the bill of what's needed? I'm somewhat baffled by this rumor.

    They guy played in 30 games last year, started 7. Averaged 17.6 minutes a game. Had a .360 FG% and shot .200 for 3Pt, averaging 2.7 points a game. His career average is 3.5 points a game. He was a 3.7-4 star out of HS, but hasn't performed at a high level in college at Oregon or Pacific, IMO. I surely hope he's not Terry's choice with so many better players available.
