  • It was interesting to watch what the Miners will aspire to be.  Run.  A lot.  Use the quarterback to run some more.  BUT, pass, too.  Passes to receivers with a chance to make big plays.  Run, but from different angles and with creativity.  The Cats had the ball for 35 minutes and the Bruins had it for 25.  Now, think of that in terms of the time the defense had to play.  As I had said some time back, it seems like Dimel's offense does match up well with the team we have.  Run heavy, with a running quarterback, but also a real passing threat.  That is why I believe he will need to get a quarterback on board.  Metz isn't the runner and has head history.  Kavika hasn't shown the ability to do either well enough.  Since we really have little idea of what we have at receiver positions due to lack of use, especially in a normal situation, not the way we have seen them used for the last few years.  I do think we need to have a speedy guy that can make opponents pay for cheating up on the line.  I remain convinced that we are much closer to a winning team than a no win season would lead one to believe.  I think the energy he will bring to a beat down group of evidently pretty fine young men, their ability to see the offense opened up, and a couple of early wins will maybe even turn the team into a bit of a monster.  What Kugler tried to do by shear force and will, when given a touch of creativity may be be all it takes to flip things in the blink of an eye.  I predicted a seven win season, but I believe that if the team can get some momentum early a nine win season is possible.  Well, I'm a Miner.  Optimism comes from living in the desert and making it through another year. Optimistic Miners in the desert is just how it is.

  • Seven wins? NINE WINS? Now, that definitely IS optimistic. I'll be happy with four wins and ecstatic with 9. But, I need to clean my orange glasses. Right now, they're a little foggy.

    I hope you're right old man.   :o

  • I was impressed with the K State team and will hold on to my usual pre-season optimism for this season. I'm still going to wait for the recruiting to take place and if a couple of speedy WR's plus a very mobile QB (someone like Kai Locksley) are brought in, I'll be highly optimistic. I still believe we have a good bunch at O-line, good RB's and TE's and FB's plus an overall decent defense.

  • Twitter chatter from K State fans was brutal regarding Dimels play calling.

But no complaining as the 2nd half started changing things. Most fan bases complain when games are not going their way. K State fans have complained a lot this year and maybe those complaints were justified to some extent but injuries set them back for a while. Closing the season like they did with an overall record of 8-5, including the bowl win, should ease their pain.

  • I saw the 1st half of the game and was not impressed at all. I had other things to do and couldn't watch the second. I was totally shocked KSU came back in the fashion that they did. I saw tons of similarities between Kug's team & KSU. Last year I thought our team could win over 6 games. I will not make that mistake again. I'm with Mojo on this one and am not expecting more than 4. However, I do expect Dimel to apply all the stops to beat NMSU.
