  • in going winless against Div 1 teams this season?  By the way, if Senter believes his statement about the current coaches auditioning for the job, I would hope that last night's showing(or lack thereof) would be enough for him to say, "Next!"  The mess of what is happening on the hardwood is just as much his as it is Floyds.
    Having seen enough in the games played this season, I have seen enough to say that there is no way in Hell that the current coaching staff should even be in the expanded list of possible replacements.  As a matter of fact, if Senter allows the season to proceed as a train off of the rails...

    the rest is here if you want to read it;

  • I didn't get to see much of last night's game.  What I did see was UTEP's defense getting a bunch of good stops, but these were followed by missed shots on the offensive end.  This was when the score was stuck on 47-30 for several minutes.  One of those missed shots was a simple layup by #4.  We made a couple of FT's and missed about an equal number of FTs.  I saw UTEP shot around 30% in the first half and I have to think the second wasn't much better.  No team looks good when they're missing shot after shot.  Either the guys are better shooters and people had an off night or the guys are delusional about their shooting abilities.

    As I said, that was all I saw.  They might actually be a bit better than what they showed.  At least that is my hope.

  • I think I saw rebound stats of something like 45 to 25.  A team that shoots 30% and allows the other team to get twice as many rebounds and the coaches have no answers is a team that is 1-6 with the one win coming from a team that should never have been on the schedule is the worst UTEP Miners basketball team I have ever seen, I do believe.  Maybe I am overreacting.  Could be.  I don't think so.  I do believe this is the very worst shape UTEP Athletics has been in since my start in 82.  Here's a chilling thought for you.  The way I understand it, the football team is pretty much set for the next few years because of scholarships.  As in it will be a slow process to change the talent level if that is the problem as it is believed to be.  Oh, and the basketball team IS the rebuild.  Golf, on the other hand, and maybe bb gun shooting are on a run, I think.

  • I'm refraining from attending any games until I see that my measly money is being well spent. I'd rather indulge in a prime rib then spend for parking and a lousy losing night. I don't know but that's just me. I don't like to throw away my money...and that's what it would be.

    If Senter maintains the status quo he can kiss my few bucks away. Yep, it's about the money and my Blood Pressure. It'll be no use taking BP medicine if the Miners only add to the problem.
