  • $10,000.  That's why I haven't played it yet.  I have to win a smaller buy in tournament that pays about $250,000 to $500,000 for the winner.  Then I'll enter it.  Hopefully, next year.

    Maybe we can invest in the entrance fee for a percentage. LOL

    Gambling:  Putting money on a proposition that is purely chance or the odds are stacked against you.  Examples -- slot machines, lottery

    Investing:  Putting money on a proposition where skill and intelligence can put the odds in your favor to come out ahead.  Examples:  Stocks, poker

    It's a fine line.

  • In the 8 weeks of the WSOP, several records were set.  WSOP attracted 230,000 entries.  The Main Event attracted 10,112 entries with a prize pool of $94,041,600.  All three set new records for the WSOP.

  • Additional records for the 2024 WSOP:

    - Many individual events were record-setting as well. The prize pool of $11,186,000 for Event #73: High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha (8-Handed) became the largest PLO prize pool in live tournament poker history, and the field of 4,280 entrants for Event #86: Mystery Bounty Pot-Limit Omaha became the largest PLO field in live tournament poker history.
    - For buy-ins, 10,939 entries in Event #54: Millionaire Maker No-Limit Hold?em set a record for the largest $1.5k buy-in field in live tournament poker history, and the 3,177 entries for Event #89: Mid-Stakes Championship No-Limit Hold?em now marks the largest ever $3k buy-in field ever.
    - A total of 34,717 places were paid at the 2024 WSOP, topping last year?s total of 32,282 for the record for total payouts in series history.
    - This year?s WSOP also set the record for the number of events exceeding $2+ million prize pools (54) and $10+ million prize pools (7).
