New coach Scotty Walden recruiting

It's been a fun day following coach Walden on Twitter or X. He was just hired on Sunday afternoon, will be introduced at UTEP tomorrow and he has already made about 20 offers. QB and WR from Florida, re-recruited El Paso QB Gael Ohoa, plus a lot more. The guy is already working hard. I love it.

Hoping to see commitments soon as the early signing period starts Dec 20. Also looking forward to seeing who he hires for his coaching staff.

Are these recruits looking like upgrades from recent recruiting years?  Of course recruiting and signing are not the same thing

I wonder how he's doing with those players that entered the Portal? Is there evidence that he has even talked to them? The only one in my mind would be the loss of that receiver with the funny name, I can't even remember what it is. He was a copy of Johnny Lee Higgins where he catches almost everything tossed to him. He's really good and I hope we can keep him...but I doubt it. They know that they're good and want more press.

Has any media talked to him concerning what I posted? Who knows.

I doubt the media will bring up anedcotal info like that. Fair to talk to both parties and then report but to blindside a new coach with something like that would not be imo.

For instance I know first hand that years ago my mother would tell how unfair teachers were to her grandchildren when I knew for a fact that was untrue. But she would swear it was.
