  • THE MINERS WIN AGAIN!

    The time of possession.

We had the ball for 6 more minutes than Tech.  But they scored at a rate of about .9 points per minute and we scored about .3 points per minute.  Just to put that in perspective, Give us the ball for 10 minutes and we will get a field goal.  Give our opponents the ball for 10 minutes and they score a touchdown and a field goal.

What is becoming interesting is the weekly comments of the announcers about the coaching.  I like listening to them find ways to say Dimel is an idiot without saying Dimel is an idiot.  The hiding of the stunningly stupid because you can't just say it.

  • Time for some more numbers.
UTEP 74 plays 321 yds  4.33 yards per play
Tech  51 plays 294 yds  5.76 yards per play

    WKU 5.55 ypp
    MTU 5.10  ypp
    JSU  5.95 ypp
    Sam 4.62  ypp

Surprise!  UTEP's red zone offense is ranked 43.  But, that is by percentage that they score when there.  Getting there is a different story.
Our scoring defense is ranked 88th, but the same thing as above.  How often are they there.

The scoring offense tells part of the story.  We are ranked 121 scoring a measly 17.4 points per game.
Our soring defense is 99th giving up 29 ppg.  btw, LA Tech is ranked 97th and we wcored 7.4 ppg below our average-against them.
