If true that San Diego State will soon join the PAC.....

According to respected sports reporter Bret McMurphy, SDSU and SMU will soon be in the PAC 12. Is UTEP a target for the MWC? Some believe Texas State in San Marcos would be the first target due to their location between San Antonio and Austin. Market, recruits, etc.

My hope is that UTEP folks have a plan and a good pitch for MWC membership. Lord knows our athletic prowess, by itself, won't cut it. But location, history with schools in the MWC, an improving FB program, improvements to the Sun Bowl, good facilities overall, should help.

One can only wish because if you think about it we're not a sought after commodity. Our sports teams are mediocre, (that's an improvement) and the only thing that we have is a large community (even though we don't get the attendance from it). I don't know if I want to join a group that doesn't appreciate what we bring (as little as it is). At least in Cusa we're appreciated and are thought of well.

I for one have had it with the Mwc and if they would take a lowly school like Tex.St. over us it tells you what I just posted, that we're not appreciated. What has TSU done in sports? Nothing and would only be invited because of it's location, and that sucks. We're stuck in the desert where there's more jackrabbits than people, and unless they're related to the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland I'm sure they don't own televisions.

Sports achievments would be great but in this modern day, it doesn't seem to really matter. If El Paso was a top 50 market instead of 93 and if El Paso produced fbs football players in great numbers then multiple conferences would be after UTEP. Sucks but that seems to be the way it is.
