  • Last time I was this excited about a coach was Gilespie. The last time I was excited about a team was when Caracter added to an already talented team.

  • I was thinking along the same lines.  I was very excited about some of Barbee's teams.  He was a great recruiter and his players did develop while they were here.  I thought he was just so-so in the strategy part of the game.  But I would have been happy had he stayed.  We really had a chance to make a deep run if we had beat Butler

Schiff, you had to bring that up. I still cry over that game. JK But my wife and I went to that tourney and I tell you I haven't ever heard so many moans during the game and that was all Miner fans. Those &%$#(*@ players could not miss their three pointers. Every time the Miners looked like they would catch up those Butlers would lob another three or two in a row. They were awesome and I do think that if they were bad shooters instead of the opposite we would have gone a long way that year. If I remember right Butler was in the final 4, right?

Indeed they did. Where they lost to Uconn in one the most boring games I have ever seen. I think it was like 53-41....
