  • 34.8 is certainly acceptable for shooting as a team.  Boum shoots better than that.  Most of the 3s we shot were open and from the flow of the offense so I'm OK with that.
What we saw in some of the other games was guys standing around not running an offense and then forcing a shot that didn't come naturally from the flow.  There's a rhythm to an offense, and shooters feed off that rhythm.  If it isn't there, they do worse.  A game where the whistle is blowing every possession generally results in poor outisde shooting for example.  So does standing around.

You are of course correct on all your points about penetrating the paint, but it also makes 3 point shooting easier.  A guard driving the paint draws defenders and almost always leaves someone open for a kick out and wide open 3.

TV continually looks absolutely exhausted to me.  Not sure why or if that's the reason for poor shooting.  But it would sure be nice to have a big contribute offensively from less than 10 feet out. Hollins and MAring want to shoot threes.

  • Three point shooting is unreliable. Points in the paint are easier shots to hit, but the real magic is inside play gets you fouled and gives you free extra points at the free throw line. That fouls out star players and causes them to play softer defense. We won the game but only because we hit those threes. I think that if we depend on three pointers we are going to be in for a roller coaster ride.
On a side note what has happened to TV?s shooting?  I?m beginning to wonder if Bienemy stole it.

If there we no difference in points, then I could see teams not trying to shoot threes.

But:  3 of 6 inside the arc:  6 points.
2 of 6 outside the arc:  6 points

And, if you have poor inside players, then you might want to get players to shoot more threes.  This is usually the formula smaller D1 schools follow.  This might be what Golding is doing this year.  But I don?t really know.

It is still going to be interesting to see how the rest of the year plays out.
