  • Now that Marshall has confirmed to the Sunbelt, my question is, is there a greater benefit to stay in CUSA, or go independent?  Seems the TV payouts are so small in CUSA (per Sisyphus' post) that it seems we would make more $ just by playing for dollars as a visitor in football (although home games may he harder to schedule). I don't know, I may be thinking about this all wrong.

  • I would think you run into a scheduling nightmare like NMSU has had. Even big independent schools are moving to conferences because of it.
I guess the question is either go for quick money or build a strong program. I'd take the ladder in this situation.

  • Independents fall into two classes.  Those with plenty of money at their disposal, and those that don't.

Notre Dame, BYU, and Liberty are in the first category.  Combined record:  18-5
Army is kind of a unique case.

The ones falling in the other category:  NMSU, U Mass, and U Conn.  Combined record:  3-21

Which category do you think we would fall into?
