Title: new DC
Post by: SisyphusMiner on January 15, 2021, 06:50:43 AM
Well apparently we hired a new DC.  Peveto, from A&M.  Call me underwhelmed.
I don't understand why we always hire career guys from P5 schools that have mediocre success.  I know I beat this dead horse a lot, but I would much rather hire a successful DC from FCS.  At least I know that this is someone who knows how to be a DC.  Sure maybe it's different in FBS, but I feel like it's a bigger step from LB coach at P5 to DC than it is from DC at FCS to DC at CUSA FBS.

Maybe his TX ties will bring us better players,  but I have my skepticals on.

It could be the UTEP DC wanted out more than Dimmel wanted a new  DC.

I like how you are trying to stay positive with this move. I read the guy worked with Dimel in Houston for a period. I seriously hope this guy can recruit well. I actually doubt it because of his age. When I say that I mean young boys dont gravitate to an older coach like they do to a younger coach at this level.
I also read that Cox pissed off a lot of kids and created division. I'm sure Dimel saw that & hired this guy to combat that.
Well...I still am not going to buy season tickets to a coach that has been here for 3yrs & cant break combined wins in the dbl digit column. Kuglar had a better record his 1st 3 years & he was just as bad as the coach I played for, Lee. I still love this team, but it's more hard love. Dimel & Senter have seriously failed & they are blaming it on the mess Kuglar created & Covid.

These kids are playing for the school I love. I want them to be able to wear UTEP gear without having to put up with the chuckles. I would love greatness would be happy with good consider ok to be ok but we are what, two or three levels below that.  As for the coaching change I don?t dare ask what could be worse but we all know that not what we do at UTEP.
