This could be huge for the Miner football program. I hope he succeeds at UTEP.
-
Hopefully Cade McConnell stays as the backup. I prefer to have him available over Locklear.
-
I expect one or two of our current QBs to transfer, other than McConnell.

I second the motion, Cade is better than Locklear. He can keep his cool under duress. I don't know much about Nelson but everyone is high on him.

UTEP also has a new freshman recruit coming for spring ball, Chad Warner. He looks really good too.

He injured his non-throwing shoulder his Sr yr in HS and irt never really fully recovered. Hope he is now fully healthy and kills it here. Just be aware that if he has a resurgence here, he will jump. His team isn't hiding that fact. I just hope he gives us a boost like our other last 5 star, Tyler Ebell.

I'll get excited after he's completed his first pass in a Miner's uniform. We've been bit too many times before for me to get all worked up about this.
Kudos however to the football recruiting staff who seem to be doing an outstanding job.

I was thinking the same thing Sisy. If he was that good why wasn't he playing on the first team. I know that he was hurt and maybe that's the reason. We'll see next year and it can't come to soon. I hate it when football season ends even if we suck. "Hope rings eternal", is that how it goes?

I hope he is successful at UTEP and gets us to a winning season and bowl game. Even if he then heads to a bigger brand with better NIL money, it would be worth it. Thamel said he turned down bigger schools and more money to come to UTEP because he believed in coach Walden. Hopefully it works out for all concerned.
