Part of my adventure into sculpting wax has been the challenge of sculpting the human skull. I have creative ideas that involve the skull and so I needed to get started on it. There will be others in different forms along the way. This one is like a mask in that it is not a solid chunk. As with the Dia de Los Muertos the wax used for the mold was sculpted by me, and then the silver was sintered by fire.

This is a collection of pieces of jewelry that I have for sale. It represents the journey I have taken in my pursuit of my goal of learning and using what Nature has given to me to use as a pallet to create works of art. Like any art, these represent the human touch and therefore, imperfections. These also represent different paths I have taken in my journey, from cabbing stones to faceting gemstones, to setting stones, to creating custom pieces.
Most of these items were cut and faceted in El Paso, by me. Some of the stones were collected here in El Paso by my son Brian Evans. The quality of the stones are best represented by the pictures. When shopping for diamonds they say to look for the 3 C’s, cut, clarity, and carat. I would say that character is the fourth C and that many of my stones best qualities may be their Character.
I am a novice and have much to learn and improve upon with my workmanship, which is a never ending pursuit.
Dia de Los Muertos
This is one of my early pieces of silver. It began as a ball of wax. After shaping and adding details, a mold was prepared into which precious metal clay made of pure silver with a binding agent that is burned off as the silver is heated in a furnace. The combination of design, a bit off metallurgy, and working with the silver is a fun and rewarding adventure. There is a connection to the land and history of the area that is connected to my alma mater and my love of working with my hands to create from the resources the Earth gives us that goes all the way back to my days in the shop classes and my father’s wood working shop full of tools. $40 SOLD
