I was on my way to work this morning and listening to one of the local sports radio talk shows. The topic of conversation was Coach Floyd. His coaching style has really impressed the talk show hosts and callers. They stated that some teams in the SEC should take a serious look at him because he could definitely transform their programs overnight. It was noted that UTEP does not attract the talent which SEC schools get year in and year out and furthermore, UTEP cannot afford to pay Coach Floyd a million dollar salary which almost all of the SEC schools can afford. They specifically mentioned Mississippi State, especially since Moultrie is leaving for the NBA after this season. Interesting speculation; I appreciate the interest in Coach Floyd but I sure hope the money does not tempt him to leave El Paso. bigcry

As I posted on Minerdigs, I think we're safe this year. Not too many ADs are chomping at the bit to hire a coach with a sub .500 record. Even if there is one out there that recognized Floyd's coaching genius status, it would be a big risk, as not too many fans and boosters would want to hire a coach with that record, especially one who has been villainized in the national media. I'll be more worried next year, after our sweet sixteen run. Wink

I don't know what's in Tim's mind any more than does anybody else except maybe his wife, but I'm not about to speculate on his leaving UTEP...ever. I'll let all you pre-worry old women handle that chore.
