I think it has more to do with the strength of schedule and the quality teams ahead of them. At this point, it's like the complaints of an All-Star game. If someone was "snubbed", then who exactly do you take out? A case can be made for various teams that are ahead of them.
The only thing they can worry about is the next win, and make noise in the Dance! Don't expect for respect to be given, go take it!

Same old song. Just a different verse. The almighty strength of schedule argument. Take all of the bige teams and 3/4's of the big ten and all of the acc. They get the first 20. Then there's the rest of the big 6. Now, who determines the strength of schedule. Writers and coaches (most of whom have no idea of any competition beyond their own and have assistants fill out. Then there is the rpi. You know, the one that is supposed to justify having all of the big 6 teams get to the dance first. They only use it if it fits that idea. If a non-big6 team is in the top 30, that doesn't matter.
Just as an example, from the men's rpi So Miss is 11 and Memphis is 25. So theoretically according to that So Miss should be a 3 seed and memphis an 8 seed. Riiiight. The pundits are already saying that C-USA should be a single bid league.
They put 11 bige teams in a dance and amazingly enough, one or two make it through. The six that get knocked out by these lower conferences just can't get up for games against these weak teams. It gets worse each year.

Well, there is no denying that our Schedule was weak to say the least. As long as we keep winning none of that will really matter.

Yeah, but that whole strength of schedule shit is way too subjective.
Eight seed Butler and 11 seed VCU beat (2)Florida, (4)Wisc, (1)Pitt, (1)Kansas, among others. I'm pretty sure that if you looked up the strength of schedules you would find that the old strength of schedule crap was made to look just plain stupid. I didn't go back to Butler's previous run, but I'm sure their strength of schedule wasn't seen as being nearly as tough as the 10 big east teams that got in.
The NCAA needs to just come right out and say that this tournament isn't about finding the best team in the country. It is about making money, and the real money makers, the big6 are insured of keeping the money coming to them in big chunks. If the strength of schedule is so important, and team's records so meaningless why don't they take the 64 slots and deal them out evenly to all of the conferences. If anything, the big boys would still win, and have an easier time of it. The 11 team from the big east isn't even close to being the best team in the country, or they wouldn't be eleventh in the bige. Well, the answer from the bigs and the ncaa is that they may only be eleventh in the bige, but they are automatically better than Sam Houston, even if Sam has 26 wins against 4 defeats . Well, I don't think so.
Then, if the deck isn't stacked enough, the seedings make sure to knock out the best of the mids, by pitting them against one another. Money, money, money,...money.
I say take the top two from each conference, put them in a hat, and pick from the hat to assign seedings by the numbers. Sure all of the fans from all of the other nine bige teams will be pitching a fit. Hell, they got no reason to bitch, they couldn't get past the two leaders of their league. And those fans will be replaced by the fans from all of the smaller conferences, because they would have an equal chance to win it all. It is the upsets and the chance to go all the way that makes this tournament so special, not the presence of 11 teams from the big e.
Well, kind of. The media pimps the big6 teams so much, that it skews everything.
Oh, well. It will just stay as it is until the bigs just decide to squeeze the little guys out completely. Like football.

In a situation like ours I think SOS is a factor, but when teams suck and still get in because of their SOS, I get pissed. The UCONN men's team has a #1 SOS but they have sucked it up in Big East play, as well as losing to UCF. They are still somehow considered in the tournament. Either way we should be in, the Ladies have proven that they are a good team. We had one hiccup midseason but they rebounded nicely.
