Subj: WHERE DID OBAMA GET HIS MONEY AND FROM WHOM Date: 10/10/2008 7:53:23 A.M. Central Daylight Time From: Svestie To: Svestie
Snopes has no info on the authenticity of this letter. However, the progression is right and Obama has refused to release records that would confirm or deny these facts and/or accusations. Please note that the religion reference to "My Muslim faith" is verifiable on George Stephanopoulis show. JB
A letter from a friend. 10-5-08.
This election has me very worried. There are so many things to consider. About a year ago I would have voted for Obama. I have changed my mind three times since than. I watch all the news channels, jumping from one to another. I must say this drives my husband crazy. But, I feel if you view MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News, you might get some middle ground to work with. About six months ago, I started thinking where did the money come from for Obama'. I have four daughters, who went to College, and we were middle class, and money was tight. We (including my girls) worked hard and there were lots of student loans. I started looking into Obama's life. Around 1979 Obama started college at Occidental in California. He is very open about his two years at Occidental; he tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting his time but, even though he had a brilliant mind, did not apply himself to his studies. 'Barry' (that was the name he used all his life) during this time had two roommates, Muhammad Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both from Pakistan. During the summer of 1981, after his second year in college, he made a 'round the world' trip. Stopping to see his mother in Indonesia, next Hyderabad in India, three weeks in Karachi, Pakistan where he stayed with his roommate's family, then off to Africa to visit his father's family. My question - Where did he get the money for this trip? Neither I, nor any one of my children would have had money for a trip like this when they where in college. When he came back he started school at Columbia University in New York. It is at this time he wants everyone to call him Barack - not Barry. Do you know what the tuition is at Columbia? It's not cheap to say the least! Where did he get money for tuition? Student Loans? Maybe? After Columbia, he went to Chicago to work a s a Community Organizer for $12,000 a year. Why Chicago? Why not New York? He was already living in New York. By 'chance' he met Antoin 'Tony' Rezko, born in Aleppo Syria, and a real estate developer in Chicago. Rezko has been convicted of fraud and bribery this year. Rezko, was named 'Entrepreneur of the Decade' by the Arab-American Business and Professional Association'. About two years later, Obama entered Harvard Law School. Do you have any idea what tuition is for Harvard Law School? Where did he get the money for Law School? More student loans? After Law school, he went back to Chicago. Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Guess what? They represented 'Rezar' which is Rezko's firm. Rezko was one of Obama's first major financial contributors when he ran for office in Chicago. In 2003, Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with 'seed money' for his U.S. Senate race. In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (less than asking price). With ALL those Student Loans - Where did he get the money for the property? On the same day Rezko's wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price. The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama's new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko. Now, we have Obama running for President. Valerie Jarrett, was Michele Obama's boss. She is now Obama's chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without talking to her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz, Iran! Do we see a pattern here? Or am I going crazy? On May 10, 2008 The Times reported, Robert Malley, advisor to Obama, was 'sacked' after the press found out he w as having regular contacts with 'Hamas', which controls Gaza and is connected with Iran. This past week, buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during Obama's visit to Iraq, he asked their leaders to do nothing about the war until after he is elected, and he will 'Take care of things'. Oh, and by the way, remember the college roommates that where born in Pakistan? They are in charge of all those 'small' Internet campaign contributions for Obama. Where is that money coming from? The poor and middle class in this country? Or could it be from the Middle East? And the final bit of news. On September 7, 2008, The Washington Times posted a verbal slip that was made on 'This Week' with George Stephanopoulos. Obama on talking about his religion said, 'My Muslim faith'. When questioned, 'he made a mistake'. Some mistake!
All of the above information I got on line. If you would like to check it - Wikipedia, encyclopedia, Barack Obama; Tony Rezko; Valerie Jarrett: Daily Times - Obama visited Pakistan in 1981; The Washington Times - September 7, 2008; The Times May 10, 2008.
Now the BIG question - If I found out all this information on my own, why haven't all of our 'intelligent' members of the press been reporting this? A phrase that keeps ringing in my ear – “Beware of the enemy from within!!!”

A phrase that keeps ringing in my ear – “Beware of the enemy from within!!!” Wait, I thought Obama was bad because he was associated with the racist pastor. Now he's a Muslim? Which is it? And which is worse? No one has been reporting this because there is no story. If Svestie had answered her own question about where Obama got his money, the story would be reported by every major outlet. But this whole letter is full of raised eyebrows, assumptions and suspicions, but precious few facts.

It is verifiable. Look it up on line: John McCain assured the North Vietnamese government that he was a war criminal who had purposely and without provocation attacked and killed many innocent women and children with explosives and napalm. He hit hospitals and schools with rockets and bombed innocent human beings in small towns and villages, many of them already wounded children. He confessed to these murders on television from Hanoi, and apologized to the people of Vietnam.
John McCain admitted he gave secret information to the enemies of his country in a time of war. John McCain is a traitor to the United States of America. On release from prison and back in the U.S., He wept and apologized to the American people and was forgiven. Then John McCain betrayed his wife and children. He seduced "many" women until he found a rich one, then dumped his family and married her for her money.
John McCain: I wouldn't let the sleezy son of a bitch run a water treatment plant in my neighborhood, let alone my country.
USAF, you are one silly son of a bitch. And so is John "The Filth of the Nation" McCain. You were made for each other. The dull-normal of the world (particularly in Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Kentucky, West Virginia and Texas east of El Paso salute you; as do CEOs of Oil companies, Insurance companies, the AMA, the CIA and the FBI.
You poor, under educated, ill-bred, drone. You and your ilk are so stupid, you think being butt-fucked for the past eight years by George W. Bush was an act Christian charity.
In your case, it probably was.

Don't you read/listen to the local and national media? Even Fox reported that McCain put an end to this stupidity!!! McCain has regained my respect! McCain put a stop to the Rove smear at all cost campaign tactics(even though they might be out and out lies). McCain wants to get back to the really important issues that concern 83% of the American people; current USA financial crisis, looming world economic catastrophy, their homes, savings, jobs, health, education, and retirement.

Hahahahahaha!!!! I hope the idiot that wrote this is well aware that some of wikipedia is user input . Some facts , some not so much. Amazing this bozo knows how to even use email. I wish the author of the email had the balls to write down their real name, they rather go with the title "friend". I tend to have smarter "friends".

Yeah, the Mexicans have cuter pigs, Nun. What they don't have is cross-dressing blasphemers who let the pigs fuck them. Now run along and keep your horsecock nose out of my bidnis.
By the way, did you see where John McCain is suing the makers of Viagra? You'll never guess why.

Oh, you assume do you, Jobu?
Here's what I assume: you are an idiot of the very first water--one of those who has kept GW's job performance rating at a whopping 28 percent for the last two years while the country collapsed around his shit-eating grin--and you would vote for him again given the option. Here's an idea: write in George's name on your ballot...nah, better not. Somebody might think it an act stupider than that of an adipose right-wing fanatic nondescript poot dressing up like a nun to draw attention to himself.
As for you other terds. You are right. I am in exile. When Obama is elected President of the United States of America for a second term in office, I shall return! (cheer ye varlets!)

Get defensive if you wish, rabbitt, but you are avoiding the issue. . . And since when did you start refering to your daughter as a 'pig'? Hide in Mexico if you wish. Your choice. Just don't question somebody's patriotism and service if you choose to live abroad. Worry about the senora piggies you're fucking and remember that cotton balls is better than blue balls. P.F.O.T.W.U. P.S. Then why is Congress' approval rating lower than GW?

I never said I assumed anything. I said I'd heard. Read much? And it would hard for me to vote for that nincompoop again when I've never done it before. How about that, Rabbit? Something we can actually agree on! These days, I'm just hoping his final decision is not to return to Texas once he's done making his mess in Washington. I hear (not assume) that he's planning on moving to this area.

I would love to see some piece of shit like you in a POW camp and see how long it is before you break. People like you degrade someone's sacrifices that you have niether the courage or self respect to make. Go move to France you fuckin coward, i'm sure you'll fit in just right there. Dont ever talk shit about someone who had the courage to do something you cant, and dont ever make a case that he's a traitor for eventually breaking under constant torture! You dont have any idea what thats like, so sit in you nice comfy computer chair and be grateful that there are people like McCain who exist to allow you to completely insult and degrade them!

do you honestly think readers are going to change their intended vote because of some internet bullshit, the authenticity of such is apochryphal at best?? do you honestly believe the readers of this website are looking here for that one piece of information that is going to push them over the edge?? i hope and pray you are less shallow than that. and if you aren't, then i hope and pray you castrate yourself so your progeny won't be similarly afflicted.

Barack Obama told a tax-burdened plumber over the weekend that his economic philosophy is to "spread the wealth around" -- a comment that may only draw fire from riled-up John McCain supporters who have taken to calling Obama a "socialist" at the Republican's rallies.
Obama made the remark, caught on camera, after fielding some tough questions from the plumber Sunday in Ohio, where the Democratic candidate canvassed neighborhoods and encouraged residents to vote early.
"Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn't it?" the plumber asked, complaining that he was being taxed "more and more for fulfilling the American dream."
"It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance for success too," Obama responded. "My attitude is that if the economy's good for folks from the bottom up, it's gonna be good for everybody ... I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."
Obama's remarks drew fresh criticism on the blogosphere that the Illinois senator favors a breed of wealth redistribution -- as well as a rebuke from the McCain campaign.
"If Barack Obama's goal as President is to 'spread the wealth around,' perhaps his unconditional meetings with Hugo Chavez, Raul Castro, and Kim Jong-Il aren't so crazy -- if nothing else they can advise an Obama administration on economic policy," McCain spokesman Michael Goldfarb said in a written statement to FOXNews.com. "In contrast, John McCain's goal as president will be to let the American people prosper unburdened by government and ever higher taxes."
Obama frequently rails against what he calls a Republican concept that tax breaks for the wealthy will somehow "trickle down" to middle-class Americans.
Obama says he will not raise taxes on anyone making less than $250,000 a year.
However, McCain's aides and supporters argue that Obama wrongly wants to raise taxes on businesses in a time of economic distress.
Both candidates spent Monday discussing how they would resurrect the ailing economy. McCain again pointed to his plan to buy up cumbersome mortgages from homeowners and renegotiate them. Obama unveiled what he called an economic rescue plan for the middle class, which included a 90-day moratorium on foreclosures.

Out of context on both and subject to manipulation of facts. I'm one of those undecided voters. So far you are doing more to convince me to vote for Obama than McCain.

From the NY Post:
TAMPA, Fla. - Polls show that Barack Obama has over taken John McCain in this state of ex-New Yorkers and snowbirds.
But deep, lingering reservations about Obama indicate his support might not be as strong as polling suggests.
"I am not overjoyed with Obama, but my vote is with him," said Judith Halpern.
An active Democrat, she ardently supported Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's bid for the nomination and still thinks Clinton would have been a better nominee.
She considered supporting McCain but worried about his age.
"His body is not a young-72 body," said Halpern, herself 84. "He's had a hard life, and melanoma."
Picking a completely inexperienced running mate sealed the deal for her.
Sarah Palin, Halpern said, simply isn't prepared to be one sunburn away from the presidency.
"He's old. She's in La-La Land," Halpern said.
Still, she worries about Obama, his long relationships with the likes of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and his failure to address the issue of Israel more regularly.
For Charna Lazar, the issue was far simpler.
"I'm a lifelong Democrat, but I'm not a socialist," said Lazar, who worked as a CIA agent fighting the Cold War in Europe and is deeply alarmed by the strains of socialism she sees in Obama's past.
"His alliances throughout his political life have been with individuals who are committed socialists," she said, listing Wright and his "liberation theology," ACORN and the unrepentant domestic terrorist Bill Ayers.
"The fact that [Ayers] was a bomber is interesting history," Lazar said. "But that's not what's important. It's that he's a socialist."
Such radical associations coupled with a very slim legislative record spell disaster, she warned.
"You can't swim in that pond and be in the same social circles and be opposed to what they represent," she said, especially considering the country's current economic woes.
"People need to wake up from this trance they seem to be in that they're just calling 'change,' " she said.
Equally disturbing, Lazar said, is the unquestioning zealousness she sees among so many Obama supporters, who jeer and bully anyone who openly dissents.
"You can talk about the scar on the side of McCain's face, but if you ask about Obama's policies on insurance you get called a racist."
SOCIALISM $ucks!!!

In your case, it probably was.

i'm a silly son of a bitch??? you just insulted and degraded a man who served his country and was tortured in a POW camp for 5 years!!! The Vietnamese eventually broke the guy. USAF, AMEN, brother! What pieces of shit who have never sacrificed anything for their country, and live in their very safe world of the internet have to say, never fails to disgust me. What a world they live in, where there is no evil, and they've never had to look the enemy in the face... Must be nice to live in a world where the only evil that exists is what you imagine your own country (or former country) doing. SAD... SAD... Anyone who's undecided (I know you're not, Austin), the work of researching Obama's friends has all been done for you here: http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/194392.phpIt should definitely give you an idea of the radical we're about to elect. And while I'm at it, there are two videos that show EXACTLY how the Dems caused this financial crisis... Here's the first: http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=1RZVw3no2A4&eurl=http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/194267.phpAnd here's an even more incriminating one in their OWN words: http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=_MGT_cSi7Rs&eurl=http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/If none of this is enough to make you vote Republican, than we never really had your vote... Oh, and just for good measure, read all about Barack Hussein Obama's 95% lie: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122385651698727257.htmlI'm done. I don't like getting into Politics on this SPORTS board, but I couldn't let some douchebag ex-pat talk like that unchallenged to a fellow servicemember. Comment if you all want, I don't care. once again you show your gallactic ignorance on the subject. but you can convince me you know something if you can answer the following question: what are the three major business entity types, how are they taxed and how does Obama aim to increase those taxes??take your time. about 5 years ought to be enough. or can you find another one of your questionable articles to support your contention??

Facts, figures and statistics were flying back in forth during the exchange so fast it was difficult to keep up. So after the debate I watched the replay and read the transcript to pick out the economic claims made by both Presidential candidates. In this article, we’ll look at their claims to determine whether they are rock solid true (earning a score of 1), true but with a lot of spin (earning a score 2) or flat out, nose-growing false (earning a score of 3). *** end quote *** MY COMMENT ON THIS STORY Excellent job on fact checking. Calm and reasoned. Apparently fair. I have no “dog” in this fight. I’m a little L libertarian. Don’t care much for either candidate. I would like to comment on “Corporate Income Tax”. It’s a sham designed to deceive the folks as to what is the overall level of taxation that Americans pay. CORPORATIONS DON’T PAY TAXES OR FEES. YOU DO! As a “frugal” site, I read often, I think you’d hammer this home. Corporations are very much like a zero sum game. If they have a cost, they pass it along to the person who buys their product or services. If it’s a widget with a pound of steel in it, your paying for that pound. Price of steel goes up, the corporation marks up the price of their product. Simple enough. If they didn’t they’d go broke. When the gooferment imposes taxes on Corporations, that’s just another cost that the business pass along to you. EXCEPT now you can’t see it. You don’t know what portion of the cost of a loaf of bread is taxes and what portion is bread. It gets worse, regulations and laws add costs. They come to you hidden in the cost of the products. It gets even worse, when the gooferment taxes a product that corporations use to make or deliver other products (e.g., gasoline), that tax is a tax on taxes. And is passed along and even buried further. It has an exponential effect! I’ve seen estimates that the real tax percentage in products is HUGE! 50 to 75%!! I don’t think anyone can tell. AND that’s excatly the politicians purpose. Bottom line: Corporate taxes imho should be ZERO! Let’s put the cost of gooferment squarely out in the open! These bozos are no fools. There’s a reason that Tax Day is a half a year away from election day. That reason is that they couldn’t get it any further away. So, when either candidate talks about corporate taxes, regulation, and fees, I think they are, possibly unknowingly (But I don’t beleive that) DEFRAUDING us from know the true cost of how badly we are being ROBBED! sigh, imho, wake up sheeple, fjohn

Investigators probing ACORN have learned that an Ohio man registered to vote several times and cast a bogus ballot with a fake address, officials said yesterday, as they revealed that nearly 4,000 registration applications supplied by the left-leaning activist group were suspect.
The vote of Darnell Nash, one of four people subpoenaed in a Cuyahoga County probe of ACORN's voter-registration activities, was canceled and his case was turned over to local prosecutors and law enforcement, Board of Elections officials said yesterday.
Nash had registered to vote repeatedly from an address that belonged to a legitimately registered voter, officials said during a hearing at which the subpoenaed voters were to testify.
Board officials had contacted Nash this summer, questioned his address and told him to stop repeat registering.
But still, he breezed into Ohio election offices - the state allows early voting for president - reregistered with a fake address and cast a paper ballot, officials said.
"He came in on 9/30 and Mr. Nash again registered to vote at [someone else's] address, and he cast a ballot," said board official Jane Platten.
Nash did not turn up for the hearing.
The Post reported last week on the Cleveland-area probe and the subpoenas, which were sent out to four people - including two voters who said they were hounded by ACORN workers to register over and over, even when they warned they'd already done so.
It's the latest issue in the probe of ACORN's registering voters in Ohio, one of at least nine states where officials are investigating similar reports of phony sign-ups by the group.
At the same time, officials said, some 5 percent, or 3,650, of the 73,000 total registration cards turned in by ACORN in the Cleveland area from its Project Vote initiative to sign up low-income voters were "questionable," Platten said.
There were "egregious acts of registering multiple times," said Platten. "The extent of it is beyond the resources of this board."
Nash's case and three others were turned over to authorities yesterday, said Ryan Miday, a spokesman for prosecutor Bill Masson.
"We will consider presenting it to a grand jury," Miday said.
A member of the board said if necessary, the FBI or federal prosecutors could be brought in for assistance.
Still, members of the bipartisan board downplayed any voter fraud.
And Platten insisted officials with ACORN have offered "any and all" help in probing the questionable activities. Katy Gall, the Ohio state director for ACORN, said her group is cooperating fully with the investigation.
She added that her group has fired anyone who was found soliciting duplicate registrations.
ACORN, whose political arm has endorsed Democratic nominee Barack Obama, has signed up more than 1.3 million voters for this cycle.
ACORN adviser Scott Levenson said, "If one of the 13,000 [people] we hired is potentially a bad apple in the bunch, we encourage the authorities to prosecute, as appropriate, anyone that did the wrong thing. We discipline [and] we fire workers who [abuse their position] . . . We encourage prosecutors to follow suit."
He also denied suggestions that the group pays canvassers by the number of names they sign up, and that they have quotas.
Also yesterday:
* Two of the four subpoenaed voters, Freddie Johnson and Christopher Barkley, met privately with sheriff's deputies and described what they'd told The Post about being hounded by ACORN workers. Barkley testified at the hearing that some of the registration cards listing his name weren't filled out by him.
* In an e-mail to supporters, John McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin, slammed "the left-wing activist group ACORN" and suggested, "We can't allow leftist groups like ACORN to steal this election."

I asked it before and got no response. One more time. The democrats told the world that we are a banan republic and needed United Nations observers to ensure our elections. They tied up the whole country looking for dangling fucking chads, screaming "Every vote must count". I haven't heard the same outcry at the bullshit the acorn leftists are pulling.

From Fox News: Mickey Mouse is as American as apple pie, and he has starred in films, TV shows and video games. But apparently he can't vote.
Florida elections officials rejected Mickey's application this summer. It is unclear whether Mickey tried to register as a Democrat or a Republican. But the application included a stamped logo of ACORN, the community organizing group that is facing accusations of voter registration fraud.
ACORN -- which has a history of voter fraud allegations -- acknowledged its logo was on the application but said its workers routinely scan all suspicious applications.
"We don't think this card came through our system," Brian Kettenring, ACORN's head organizer in Florida, told the St. Petersburg Times.
The group says it has signed up to 1.3 million poor and working-class voters this year in a mass registration drive in 18 states. Some of those registration cards have become the focus of fraud investigations in Ohio, Nevada, Connecticut, Missouri, and other states.
Other fraudulent registrations included forms for the starting lineup of the Dallas Cowboys football team

You dont have any idea what thats like, so sit in you nice comfy computer chair and be grateful that there are people like McCain who exist to allow you to completely insult and degrade them! GO MINERS!!! McCain/Palin '08!!! NOBAMA!!! thanks for the comment and that info you posted. I just have to say that regardless of whether you are republican, democrat, or independent, it is truely disgraceful that anyone could degrade an honorable man like that...regardless of how you feel about his political affiliation. It shows his true character and sadly the type of feelings shared by these left wing nuts (i'm speaking only to the crazed left wing radicals, not all democrats because i can find much common ground with moderate dems). While i am an independent, i am voting for McCain because i wont be brainwashed by all the bs that Obama spews from his mouth. Others look at him as if he is the "second coming of Christ", and is gonna rescue us all.... i wont buy into the hype. i will gladly vote democrat when they bring the better candidate, but i have always respected McCain and his ability for bipartisanship. Thats the "change we need", someone who is willing to work with everyone to get a job done, not Obama who will push a purely far left wing agenda.

I was shocked. Shocked!

You will not hear the outcry about this Voter Fraud because it serves their purpose!!
Where's the outrage about this one? It's been here for more than a day, but no one seems to mind it. http://kyyotesden.com/Den/index.php?topic=139.0

In local elections in a place some of them have never even been to? You're right, that's cool.

from the NY post:
PREPARE for a new America: That's the message that the Rev. Jesse Jackson conveyed to participants in the first World Policy Forum, held at this French lakeside resort last week.
He promised "fundamental changes" in US foreign policy - saying America must "heal wounds" it has caused to other nations, revive its alliances and apologize for the "arrogance of the Bush administration."
The most important change would occur in the Middle East, where "decades of putting Israel's interests first" would end.
Jackson believes that, although "Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades" remain strong, they'll lose a great deal of their clout when Barack Obama enters the White House.
"Obama is about change," Jackson told me in a wide-ranging conversation. "And the change that Obama promises is not limited to what we do in America itself. It is a change of the way America looks at the world and its place in it."
Jackson warns that he isn't an Obama confidant or adviser, "just a supporter." But he adds that Obama has been "a neighbor or, better still, a member of the family." Jackson's son has been a close friend of Obama for years, and Jackson's daughter went to school with Obama's wife Michelle.
"We helped him start his career," says Jackson. "And then we were always there to help him move ahead. He is the continuation of our struggle for justice not only for the black people but also for all those who have been wronged."
Will Obama's election close the chapter of black grievances linked to memories of slavery? The reverend takes a deep breath and waits a long time before responding.
"No, that chapter won't be closed," he says. "However, Obama's victory will be a huge step in the direction we have wanted America to take for decades."
Jackson rejects any suggestion that Obama was influenced by Marxist ideas in his youth. "I see no evidence of that," he says. "Obama's thirst for justice and equality is rooted in his black culture."
But is Obama - who's not a descendant of slaves - truly a typical American black?
Jackson emphatically answers yes: "You don't need to be a descendant of slaves to experience the oppression, the suffocating injustice and the ugly racism that exists in our society," he says. "Obama experienced the same environment as all American blacks did. It was nonsense to suggest that he was somehow not black enough to feel the pain."
Is Jackson worried about the "Bradley effect" - that people may be telling pollsters they favor the black candidate, but won't end up voting for him?
"I don't think this is how things will turn out," he says. "We have a collapsing economy and a war that we have lost in Iraq. In Afghanistan, we face a resurgent Taliban. New threats are looming in Pakistan. Our liberties have been trampled under feet . . . Today, most Americans want change, and know that only Barack can deliver what they want. Young Americans are especially determined to make sure that Obama wins."
He sees a broad public loss of confidence in the nation's institutions: "We have lost confidence in our president, our Congress, our banking system, our Wall Street and our legal system to protect our individual freedoms. . . I don't see how we could regain confidence in all those institutions without a radical change of direction."
Jackson declines to be more concrete about possible policy changes. After all, he insists, he isn't part of Obama's policy team. Yet he clearly hopes that his views, reflecting the position of many Democrats, would be reflected in the policies of an Obama administration.
On the economic front, he hopes for "major changes in our trading policy."
"We cannot continue with the open-door policy," he says. "We need to protect our manufacturing industry against unfair competition that destroys American jobs and creates ill-paid jobs abroad."
Would that mean an abrogation of the NAFTA treaty with Canada and Mexico?
Jackson dismisses the question as "premature": "We could do a great deal without such dramatic action."
His most surprising position concerns Iraq. He passionately denounces the toppling of Saddam Hussein as "an illegal and unjust act." But he's now sure that the United States "will have to remain in Iraq for a very long time."
What of Obama's promise to withdraw by 2010? Jackson believes that position will have to evolve, reflecting "realities on the ground."
"We should work with our allies in Iraq to consolidate democratic institutions there," he says. "We must help the people of Iraq decide and shape their future in accordance with their own culture and faith."
On Iran, he strongly supports Obama's idea of opening a direct dialogue with the leadership in Tehran. "We've got to talk to tell them what we want and hear what they want," Jackson says. "Nothing is gained by not talking to others."
Would that mean ignoring the four UN Security Council resolutions that demand an end to Iran's uranium-enrichment program? Jackson says direct talks wouldn't start without preparations.
"Barack wants an aggressive and dynamic diplomacy," he says. "He also wants adequate preparatory work. We must enter the talks after the ground has been prepared," he says.
Jackson is especially critical of President Bush's approach to the Israel-Palestine conflict.
"Bush was so afraid of a snafu and of upsetting Israel that he gave the whole thing a miss," Jackson says. "Barack will change that," because, as long as the Palestinians haven't seen justice, the Middle East will "remain a source of danger to us all."
"Barack is determined to repair our relations with the world of Islam and Muslims," Jackson says. "Thanks to his background and ecumenical approach, he knows how Muslims feel while remaining committed to his own faith."

In your case, it probably was.

i'm a silly son of a bitch??? you just insulted and degraded a man who served his country and was tortured in a POW camp for 5 years!!! The Vietnamese eventually broke the guy. Paul Krugman is correct when he referred to the Republican party as the "party of the stupids". its not the Democrats that have disgraced themselves this election. which is probably why they're leading in every poll known to exist. and don't forget all the Republicans who are calling for McCain to start over, dump Palin and develope an actual campaign agenda. what you're doing ain't working. Obama ain't beating you all. you're beating yourselves. take a cookie out of petty cash.

Some whacked out mofo's. F'in people. By the way, Obama is under some heavy heat. (keeping it fair and balanced with my report here) ---- Obama Under Fire For Playing T-Ball During Vietnam WASHINGTON—At a press conference on Monday, members of the Vietnam Veterans Alliance blasted Democratic nominee Barack Obama for his failure to serve in the Southeast Asian war that ended 33 years ago, alleging that during the conflict the candidate frequently engaged in games of T-ball. "While our boys were dying in Vietnam, Barack Obama was running around a little league field, laughing and having fun without a care in the world," VVA spokesman James Lowry said. "John McCain left his wife and three children behind and fought bravely, but I guess Sen. Obama decided that practicing cursive and learning how to ride a bike was just more important than defending his country in her hour of need. I bet he wasn't even able to point out Vietnam on a map." Lowry later speculated that if Obama had been sent over to fight in the conflict, he probably would have peed his pants and cried for his mommy as soon as he touched down in Saigon. http://www.theonion.com/content/news_briefs/obama_under_fire_for
